Announced way back in May of 2013, The Sims 4 has had fans anxiously awaiting for the day the words "release date" were uttered by some bigwig at EA. Last year Simmers were tested, with EA revealing that The Sims 4 would release in fall 2014, and not a whole lot more.

However annoying it is to wait for news on a beloved series, at least Simmers were comforted in knowing that The Sims 4 wouldn't be limited to online only gameplay. After the mess that was SimCity, EA revealed that The Sims 4 would be a "single-player offline experience."

In EA's E3 2014 press conference, Rachel Franklin, Executive Producer on The Sims 4, took the stage for a brief, yet exciting discussion. As soon as she appeared, introducing herself and announcing the reason she was there, the audience screamed out with girlish applause.

"In previous games you controlled the mind and body of your Sims. In The Sims 4, for the first time, you control their hearts," said Franklin. How cute. The duration of her speech lasted about five minutes, showing viewers a lot of what has already been seen, some neat looking gameplay and finally giving Simmers what they've been waiting for - a release date.

The Sims 4 will release on September 2 of this year for PC and Mac, and from Franklin's mouth, it "is unlike anything we've [EA has] ever made."  An avid Simmer myself, I can't wait to have hours and hours of my life sucked away into the world of The Sims 4.
