There have been floating rumors going around lately that Mass Effect will eventually make its way to Sony’s console. Today, Electronic Arts has revealed that Mass Effect 2 will be released on the PlayStation 3 in January 2011.
Bioware CEO and Electronic Arts Vice President Ray Muzyka made the announcement during EA’s press conference at Gamescom earlier this morning. No specific details of any special features were spoken at the conference. According to a press release by EA, the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 “will include the full Mass Effect 2 game and hours of bonus content.” It's highly likely all of the Mass Effect 2 DLCs released at this point will be included in the PS3 version, but no one can really say at this point.
Also, since EA did not mention Mass Effect 1 being ported to Sony’s console, that means PS3 owners will have to play Mass Effect 2 from scratch. No save files being carried over from the original, which only gives PS3 owners a chunk of the fun compared to what the 360 owners already have. Still, I imagine this kind of news is not something you at least can’t be excited about.

I dont get it I thought MIcrosoft owned the rightts to mass effect. either way, good for PS3 gamers I suppose, i never personnaly got into mass effect
I know it's only rumours but I am really looking forward for this to happend.
i have always been quite intrested in this game just never played it due to it not being on playstation3
@shindiggah : They do for the first one, which is why it will remain on PC and 360 only.
@canana : Not rumors, this was confirmed. :)
As far as system wars go though, you really have to feel sorry for the people still on the 360 side. Even if ME was never exclusive, now it's insult to injury for it to not even be console exclusive.
Even though I have this for the PC I might just pick it up for PS3 if prices are lower.
@King: that seems incredibly retarded (excuse my vulgarity I suppose if you find that vulgar...) why would you buy the rights to one game and not its sequels? :/ I understand 2 was published by EA and not Microsoft, but still they could've worked out some sort of deal Im sure.
Wont a lot of PS3 players have missed the first one? I dont really see the point of releasing the sequel.
Video coding will be fixed. Again.
