Monster Hunter World PC Delay Due to Servers and Matchmaking Issues

Monster Hunter World's release date is almost here if you play on consoles that is. The PC version is currently slated for a Fall 2018 release but Ryozo Tsujimoto has offered some insight into Capcom’s reasoning for the postponement.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar/PCGamer the producer explained that the PC servers and matchmaking have caused the game to be pushed back. Ultimately, Tsujimoto and his team want to make the best possible version for PC instead of simply rushing it out the door.

“For the main Monster Hunter game, this is our first PC title and it’s something we want to make sure we get right. So rather than have it taking up resources during the console development and not it not being able to have our full attention on it. We want to get console out the door and then we’re going to take some extra time and try and get the PC version as good as possible."

“There’s extra work you need for PC as well. On console you use first party matchmaking, you just kind of plug into it, whether it’s PSN or Xbox Live, but on PC we’re going to have to work more to get our own matchmaking working. So, hopefully, PC users won’t mind waiting a little bit longer for us to bring you a really great optimized PC experience.”

Since Monster Hunter World is set in such a large world and heavily deals with multiplayer functions ensuring the game runs smoothly should be a priority. Although this means a delay ensuring a stable product is better than releasing an early unfinished game.

Those on PlayStation 4 can experience the beta one last time next week. Taking part will earn you exclusive items for when the game goes live.

Monster Hunter World is set to release January 26th for Xbox One and PS4. The PC version will launch in Autumn 2018.
