The PlayStation 2 Officially Turns 20 Years Old

The PlayStation 2 is often considered one of the best gaming consoles of all time. Releasing in JP on March 4th, 2020 and western countries later in 2000 the system was a huge success. Offering an incredible array of games, backward compatibility with PlayStation games, a Blu-Ray player, and free online services the system easily dominated the competition. With the PS2 being discounted in 2013 and repair services ending in September 7th, 2018. 

Now the PS2 has reached its 20 year anniversary and its time to celebrate!

The PS2 was notorious for some of the greatest games of its generation including Grand Theft Auto 3, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Metal Gear Solid series, God of War, Jak and Daxter, Spyro the Dragon, Devil May Cry, and Sly Cooper. Any one of these games would be considered system sellers and Sony had them all.

The PS2 would reach 155 million units sold when it was discontinued on March 31st, 2012 officially by Sony.

The system still holds a special place for many gamers, especially retro gamers.
