The next big update for Arc Raiders won't come out for months, but users already have a lot to talk about. The extraction shooter is back in the news thanks to technical problems hitting Steam Deck users and a big leak that shows what new content will be added. The most recent discussion started not long after update 1.33.0 came out.

Many players said that Arc Raiders was no longer working right on Linux and Steam Deck systems after the change. In reaction, Embark Studios admitted that there was a problem and said that it had worked with the Proton team to figure out what was going wrong.

The creator says that the Bleeding Edge branch of Proton Experimental can be used as a temporary fix right now. Some players who were having trouble got back into the game with that fix, but Embark says they are working on a more lasting fix for a future update.

For Steam Deck users who use their handheld as their main tool, the problem has been a frustrating setback at a time when the game is already trying to keep going.

The change has also brought up the topic of improving quality of life again. One idea that keeps coming up in the community is for collectible accessories. Players have been asking for a way to stack and store more of these decorative things so that they can collect them without taking up too much space in their inventory.

Although no changes have been made, this is still something that committed raiders talk about a lot.

However, not all of the recent changes have been bad. One change that seems to be going over well is that the game is still trying out limiting free kits in some events. Players have said that matches are more important when players come with their own specially put together gear. A lot of players say that battles feel less disposable and more rewarding, which makes raids more tense.

More than changes to the game itself, though, this week's biggest news is a leak that may show what Embark has been working on behind the scenes. Sources who looked at files that came with the most recent update say that a huge frigate site has been added to the game data.

The leaked area looks to be way bigger than a lot of the buildings that are already in Arc Raiders and could be very important in a future update. The discovery shows that players could be able to access the frigate via a unique beacon system that needs a power cell to work. When set off, a transport system is said to take players to the huge building.

Early findings also point to interesting features throughout the area like power cores, control systems and other interesting spots. What was shared goes even further. Sources say that the frigate could drop goods on different parts of the map on a regular basis, giving players new chances to find valuable items.

Reports say that different kinds of drops are planned, from normal rewards to more expensive cargo.

The leak also talks about a bigger place called Frozen Trail. The area could contain a variety of different places based on data mining and could include rail yards, train stops, observatories, supermarkets and other urban-style landmarks. Players who are excited to try something new are already excited about how big the content is even though there aren’t many details available yet.

Leaked information should always be looked at with care, of course. Some things in the test files might not make it into the final game at all, or they might change a lot before the release.

Still, the discovery gives people who are eager for new material a tantalizing look at what might be coming next. The next few months could be very important for Arc Raiders. If these plans come together, players could soon be on their way to a huge new location.

What's the question now? Could this huge ship be the update that makes Arc Raiders the most talked-about game again?
