Sony has been in the news lately for several important events, such as free PlayStation Plus add-ons, a possible Marathon announcement, a new Physical PS5 Special Edition of The Last of Us, and ongoing rumors about the PlayStation Portable PSP3. Apart from the rumors, it seems apparent that Sony is preparing some important announcements across the board, and one of them is about the most expensive game ever, Marathon.

Despite Sony shifting gears towards single-player games, it appears Sony and Bungie are heavily teasing Marathon. Both companies have updated all their social media feeds with enigmatic images related to this next live-service game. Bungie's new live-service shooter has been linked to all of Sony's social media pages with mysterious black-and-neon-green images. This comes after Bungie started an alternate reality game (ARG), which seemed to hint at a soon-to-be-released game.

Starting on Twitter, Bungie uploaded a black and neon green banner that followers immediately associated with an alternate reality game (ARG). Following suit, PlayStation updated everything from YouTube to Facebook with the same neon-green theme from there. Adding more fuel to the frenzy, a security alert video points out a website. It looks like we are nearing a complete reveal of Marathon, maybe next week or later this month.

Already, people are delving into the ARG and finding hints about Marathon's soundtracks, arms, and other fascinating material. So yes, Bungie is launching this rather creatively, and after Destiny, this is their first major effort. Conversely, can it meet expectations? Bungie is aware of everyone's expectations, and even though people are not completely sure yet, they believe that Sony will present it well when they finally reveal it.

So, Sony must be really happy about Marathon's progress, and we might as well see a release date announcement during the next showcase. There is talk that this buildup could be for a Marathon event, possibly connected to a rumored Bungie event in April. Jeff Grubb, who works in the industry, said earlier that Marathon wasn't shown in Sony's last State of Play because Bungie had other plans for how to reveal it.

Companies that use this method of marketing, where they leave hints and get gamers to figure them out, are becoming a more popular way to get people excited. Fans should wait until the next few weeks to find out more.
