Capcom's Silence Confirms Resident Evil 9 Leaks
Capcom is busy working on Resident Evil 9, the ninth mainline entry in the series.

There may have been an absence in the Resident Evil news recently, but speculation and leaks were inevitable; this one, in particular, may prove to be the most significant. Given the Resident Evil series' consistent performance and the huge success of Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways DLC, it's hardly surprising that Capcom is already busy working on Resident Evil 9, the ninth mainline entry in the series. And guess what? An early build of the game was allegedly put through playtesting by a source.
All of the information about to be shared is based on rumors until Capcom officially confirms otherwise. If you have been waiting for the next Resident Evil game, you are in for a big surprise. There might be some big spoilers ahead, so be cautious.
So far as the source has confirmed, Resident Evil 9 will pick up four years after Resident Evil Village's events, not the Shadows of Rose DLC, but the core game itself. Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine will return as the primary protagonists, and they will be partners in a Resident Evil game for the very first time. They appeared together in the animated Biohazard: Death Island movie, and they seem to get along very well.
Additionally, Chris Redfield and Barry Burton will be making a triumphant return, albeit in a supporting role, interacting with the player via radio calls. Leon will look like he did in Resident Evil: Damnation, while Jill will dress more tactically like she did in Resident Evil 5: Lost in Nightmares DLC. While Leon will appear somewhat older, sporting an unshaven face and marginally longer hair, Jill will retain her Resident Evil: Death Island appearance.
The story follows Jill from BSAA and Leon from DSO as they travel to an island to investigate the corporation responsible for creating Evelyn in Resident Evil 7. The corporation is now making masked clones of Evelyn, a biological weapon, using the Megamycete that Miranda supplied in Resident Evil Village. This does, in fact, correspond to the ending of Resident Evil Village.
We were aware of the BSAA's development of semi-intelligent BOWs. During the process of extracting the model from the game, it was discovered that it was the same model as Chris Redfield. This seems to be the reason that the Megamycete would be further experimented with, given that clones are nothing new to the Resident Evil series. Chris Redfield and Barry Burton will contact them multiple times to assist Jill and Leon with their objective. During one of the calls, Chris will also bring up Rosemary Winters.
In order to spare the islanders from the Megamycete, Chris proposes using Rose's blood to make a vaccination. For this reason, Chris Redfield's desire to keep Rose under his care is understandable. The Megamycete will infect Leon and Jill. The Megamycete will be used to keep Rose safe. The voices of Evelyn will haunt them as they hallucinate throughout the game. As part of their ongoing investigation, Blue Umbrella will be returning as the good company to assist the BSAA and DSO. The island's structure includes a temple, labs, a defunct industry, dark forests, a hospital, caves, and houses owned by villagers.
The game's primary enemies will be evolved zombies who live on the island. They resemble the Ganados from Resident Evil 4 in that they are agile and wield a variety of melee weapons, such as axes and knives. Those who have been infected with the mold worship the moon at night and have moon tattoos on their arms. Throughout the game, Leon will be pursued by an antagonist who acts as a stalker. Jill, on the other hand, will eventually be pursued by the Goatman (Yoggie). Mr. Simon is the new main villain who oversees the manufacturing of biological weapons on a large scale. He had psychological trauma as a child and has a troubled past.
The source mentioned playtests conducted in Japan in April and September this year. In the April test, Jill was at an isolated hospital, and in the September test, Leon was in the forest. Resident Evil 9 will reportedly pick up where Resident Evil 7 and Village left off, bringing the Megamycete scenario full circle with the beginning of Evelyn.
There appears to be a solid narrative connection between the Resident Evil 7 and Village plots. Although Capcom has acknowledged the Winters Family Saga's conclusion, they have made no indications of limiting access to the existing history. Leon and Jill work together, with Barry making an appearance—albeit in a supporting role—back in the plot. The cloned enemies are hardly a new concept for Capcom, and they make perfect sense.
