As part of the Shifting Earths mission, you can unlock a hidden challenge on a snowy peak. This event may appear randomly on the Mission Select screen—mine activated after defeating three unique bosses. Once active, you’ll see a towering snowy mountain icon in the top-left of your map.

To complete this secret, you must scale that mountain and reach the red flag marker before nightfall on Day Two. Enemies here hit hard, so plan to tackle this as your final objective before dusk.

Recommended Level and Equipment

You should be at least Level 10 to have a reliable shot at the climb and any encounters along the way, though it’s possible as low as Level 8 or 9. Equip a relic that grants Frostbite Resistance—taking on this mountain without it makes the journey much more punishing.

Accessing the Mountaintop

From the Mission Select screen at the Round Table, load into the world and open your map. Locate the snowy mountain in the top-left quadrant, then set a waypoint on the Red Flag icon at its summit.

Travel to the southern base of that mountain, where you’ll find a Spirit Spring just above the tree line. Ride this spirit spring upward to begin your ascent toward the summit.

Climbing the Initial Walls

After riding a few Spirit Springs, you’ll encounter a stone wall blocking further progress. Climb this wall, and immediately upon emerging, the Mountaintop Ice Dragon will descend upon you, inflicting frostbite damage with every hit. As soon as frostbite builds, heal immediately.

This dragon is mighty but vulnerable; you may choose to challenge it, but it’s entirely optional. If you have a Duchess ally on your team who uses her ultimate, she can draw the dragon’s attention off you, making it easier to slip past.

Navigating the Chains

Once you bypass—or defeat—the first dragon, wait for the fog to clear so you can gauge your surroundings. Look for white chaining points on your minimap: these are chains linking the mountainside. Hook onto the nearest chain and continue upward.

After swinging past the first pair of chains, you’ll encounter the Mountaintop Ice Dragon again, inflicting more frostbite. Instead of engaging, heal and press on.

After rounding a corner, grab the next set of chains, which guide you further uphill. From here, you’ll always be moving upward without any misleading dips.

Approaching the Summit and Boss Fight

Chains mark most of your path to the peak. By the time you reach the final pair, you’ll be very close to the summit. The reward itself isn’t spectacular, but it grants you an opportunity: if you still want to face the Mountaintop Ice Dragon, you can now do so with fewer environmental hazards.

Beating it yields a significant haul of Runes and may drop additional Frostbite Resistance gear—handy for Day Three’s most challenging bosses.

Claiming the Sight of Grace and Secret Reward

As you round the last corner, look for a Sight of Grace beside the Red Flag marker. Rest here to spend Runes and level up. Nearby, you’ll discover the Secret of the Mountaintop. It isn’t game-changing, but in specific builds or challenges, it can prove helpful.

Upon interacting with it, you’ll receive the Power of the Mountaintops, which enhances frostbite damage and boosts your attack whenever nearby enemies suffer frostbite. Use this buff to revisit and defeat the Mountaintop Ice Dragon if you wish.
