Elden Ring Nightreign Guide | How To Get Stonesword Key
Here's a detailed guide on how you can find the Stonesword key for opening Evergaols.
Game Guide by Ornstein on Jun 07, 2025
In Elden Ring Nightreign, you will encounter sites called Evergaol scattered throughout the map. These large dish-shaped structures require a Stonesword Key to activate.
Once you use a Stonesword Key at an Evergaol, you will summon a legendary boss that drops powerful loot and can grant random attribute upgrades.
This guide explains what Stonesword Keys are, where to find them, and how to use them effectively to enhance your journey.
Stonesword Key and Evergaol
You may have come across circular dishes on your map marked as Evergaol. When you walk up to one, a prompt appears stating that you need a Stonesword Key to open it. These Evergaol serve as portals to legendary boss encounters.
Defeating these bosses yields some of the best weapons, items, and stat upgrades available in the game. However, keep in mind that these encounters are challenging. You should be at least around level 6 or 7 with decent gear before attempting to activate an Evergaol.
Finding Stonesword Keys
Stonesword Keys are found randomly in various locations across the map. In most instances, you will discover them by looting defeated soldiers near Evergaol sites. Be thorough when exploring enemy camps or areas surrounding these dishes.
Occasionally, you might also locate a Stonesword Key inside a chest. Stay vigilant for any fallen foes or containers near an Evergaol—you may already have picked up a Stonesword Key without realizing its purpose.
Using Stonesword Keys at Evergaol
Once you possess a Stonesword Key, approach any Evergaol and interact with it to consume the key. Doing so triggers a summoned boss fight. The boss that appears is chosen at random—some are easier to defeat, while others are complicated.
Enter these encounters only when you feel confident in your character's level, stats, and equipment. If you struggle initially, consider leveling up further before returning.
Rewards and Advice
When you beat a summoned boss at an Evergaol, you'll get high-tier gear, weapons, or special things that will make your build much stronger. When these bosses are defeated, they also give a random trait boost.
Each time, you get more life or stamina, or your attack speed goes up. Since these upgrades are unpredictable, repeated boss runs can yield different benefits each time.
Regardless of the specific reward, taking on these bosses is an excellent way to farm experience points, improve your gear, and enhance your character for the final stages of the game.
Level Recommendation
Because these encounters can be very challenging, do not attempt to use a Stonesword Key at an Evergaol until you are at least level 6 or 7.
If you rush in at a lower level, you might lose resources and keep failing. When you hit the suggested level, you can fight these bosses more effectively and get the big rewards they give you.
