CD Projekt RED Checks Which Mods Will Work With Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update
CD Projekt RED has provided information to PC gamers who like modding their games about which mods still work with the new update.

CD Projekt RED has done another great little thing for PC gamers by directly telling those who mod their games which Witcher 3: Wild Hunt mods will still work, and which will not, once the Next-Gen Update goes live on 14 December 2022. The company has not provided a comprehensive list of all the mods that have ever been made for the game, but it has given a list of 71 of the most popular mods.
CD Projekt RED announced this in a forum post that explained: “Updating a game means that we change various files, so the mods that modify those exact files stop working. If we want to change things in the game or add stuff, it cannot be avoided, and our teams have to focus on making updates as good as possible, not minimizing change.”
Alongside the statement, CD Projekt RED also released a spreadsheet for those who want to see which mods still work and which do not. The list of 71 popular mods is, regrettably, mostly filled with mods that no longer work. However, the spreadsheet also provides a short comment on why the mods don’t work anymore, and the vast majority of the mods that no longer work are due to scripting errors, and this means that the modders can update these versions to make them compatible. So, that’s some pretty good news overall.
In addition, the forum post reassures modders that the game will have a team of modding experts to assist the modding community, and that the update will release alongside a new version of the command line tools that modders will need. This ultimately means that CD Projekt RED is committed to their continued support of PC gamers, and more specifically the modding scene.
