Chrono Odyssey Devs Respond: Major Changes Confirmed After Beta Feedback

From performance woes to character movement and DLSS support, NPIXEL Studio commits to polishing the highly anticipated MMORPG before launch.

Things are about to change a lot in the MMO world. The time-traveling MMORPG Chrono Odyssey, which is coming soon from Korean developer Chrono Studio, has just shared a lot of cool new information. This could be one of the most popular online role-playing games in years if first impressions are right. There will be a closed beta on Steam for a short time in June 2025. Some players will be able to dive into this strange world and try out a very different take on the genre.

Chrono Odyssey is already making news, and not just for its beautiful graphics and big MMO world. It's also getting attention for how quickly the developers are responding to player feedback. In an incredibly honest move, Chrono Studio and publisher Kakao Games have acknowledged the community's concerns and said that a lot of important updates are on the way.

In a tweet, the CEO and founder of Chrono Studio stated, "Thank you very much for your honest feedback. In terms of optimization, we plan to continue working on and fixing problems until the game is officially released. Optimization was a significant issue for many players during the test.

It was hard to keep frame rates stable, even on high-end systems with RTX 4070 Ti GPUs and DDR5 memory. Therefore, it's no surprise that performance is the most important factor. Fans can now rest easy knowing that it's getting the attention it needs".

Things are getting better, but that's not all. The studio also confirmed that the physics of how characters move will be greatly improved. The game already features cinematic animations and smooth mount movement, but many MMORPG players have complained about how difficult it is to move around on the ground and how the gameplay disrupts immersion. The developers say that's now on the list of things to fix.

Another big win is that DLSS works. The current version of the game only has TSR (Temporal Super Resolution), but DLSS is now officially planned to be added. DLSS is known to greatly improve frame rates on NVIDIA hardware. When combined with efforts to improve performance, this should make things run much more smoothly for all players.

Along with better graphics and controls, monster AI will also be improved to make combat more interesting and responsive. That means smarter enemies, fights that are more interesting, and an overall better PvE loop.

However, the attitude might be the most interesting aspect of the announcement, rather than any single feature.

Chrono Studio made it clear that they are paying attention. People who play the game every day, not just influencers or streamers, have tested it. And the community's voice has already changed the way things are developing.

There will be more Closed Beta Tests after this one. It's likely that a second beta will be released, and an Open Beta may also be introduced before the official launch. That means there are more chances for people to give feedback and change the game before it comes out.

It's still possible to get better. Some parts of the game need better lighting—scenes that take place during the day can look washed out. The compass UI is clean and simple, but many players want a mini-map or even a transparent overlay map, which is common in modern MMORPGs and makes it easier to find your way around without breaking the immersion.

Chrono Studio mentioned previously that the lack of a mini-map was intentional, allowing for maximum immersion and a clean UI. Still, a lot of testers have to keep opening the map, which breaks up the flow. We still don't know if a hybrid solution like a transparent map will make it in.

There is a lot of hope right now. They are working hard on it, and even though it's not perfect yet, the game has a lot of potential. Chrono Odyssey looks like it will be one of the best MMORPGs released in recent years. It has a great world structure and beautiful graphics, and the development team is easy to talk to.

Keep an eye out for Closed Beta 2, and as Chrono Studio continues to improve and adapt, you can expect even bigger changes. There's one thing for sure: this isn't the kind of studio that just leaves a beta up. They are looking and making changes; most importantly, they are listening to player's feedback.
