Destiny 2's Final Pre-Update Xur Visit Offers a Preview of Bigger Changes Ahead

Xur's inventory is fairly routine this week, but next week's update could make the weekend vendor much more rewarding.

Xur has returned to Destiny 2 for what is expected to be his final visit before the arrival of Monument of Triumph, and while this week's inventory may not be packed with must-have items, it serves as a reminder that some major changes are imminent.

If you've been paying attention to Bungie's upcoming June update, you'll already know that Xur is about to become much more important. His reputation rank reward track is being restored, meaning you'll earn reputation whenever you purchase items from him. As you rank up, you'll also be able to earn Xur engrams, giving you another reason to check in with the vendor each week.

The update doesn't stop there. Bungie is also expanding Xur's inventory with new Exotic catalysts. The goal is to add catalysts for nearly every Exotic weapon that still doesn't have one. On top of that, Xur will begin offering tiered armor, making his inventory significantly more valuable than it is today.

For now, though, you're still looking at the current version of Xur.

His Exotic armor lineup this week includes Ophidian Aspect with a total stat roll of 62, Omnioculus at 60, Dunemarchers at 59, Wishful Ignorance at 58, Sanguine Alchemy at 60, and Boots of the Assembler at 61. While none of the pieces stand out as exceptional rolls, they could still be worth considering if you're missing them from your collection.

The total stat values are the main things worth checking. If you want different stat distributions, you can still manipulate those by changing the mod on your Ghost and revisiting Xur. Doing so should refresh the stat packages available on the armor pieces he offers. That gives you a bit more flexibility when hunting for a roll that better fits your build.

While the armor selection isn't especially exciting due to the incoming tier system, the catalyst selection is a little more noteworthy. This week, Xur is selling the Rat King and Fighting Lion catalysts alongside Exotic weapons including Queenbreaker, Sunshot, Vigilance Wing, and Hawkmoon.

Hawkmoon arrives with Snapshot Sights this time around. Bungie has already confirmed that Hawkmoon will not become craftable and won't receive any major overhaul as part of the June update. Instead, it will continue to rotate through Xur's inventory, making it a useful pickup if you're still filling gaps in your Exotic collection.

The Legendary weapon selection is varied. Extraordinary Rendition comes with Firmly Planted and Tap the Trigger, creating a roll that leans heavily toward accuracy. It isn't considered one of the weapon's standout combinations, but it has a clear purpose.

The Showrunner is available with Dynamic Sway Reduction and Kinetic Tremors. While that perk pairing may not be what most players want, it can still be a fun option to try. The roll offers a mix of improved stability and additional damage potential during longer engagements.

One of the more interesting offerings this week is Blast Furnace.

The pulse rifle comes with Keep Away and Rampage. It may not qualify as a god roll, but the combination works reasonably well for a weapon designed to operate at medium range. If you've been considering picking one up, this may be a decent opportunity before the tier system arrives next week.

Elsewhere, Distant Tumulus is available with Dragonfly and Quickdraw, while First In, Last Out rolls with Auto-Loading Holster and Vorpal Weapon. Chronophage, the Void Trace Rifle, comes with Feeding Frenzy and Desperate Measures, though that combination may not generate much excitement.

Blast Battue also makes another appearance with Pulse Monitor and Disruption Break. Plank's Stride arrives with Heating Up and One for All, giving players another option among this week's heavier weapons. Neither roll is likely to become a top-tier pick, but they may still appeal to players looking to expand their arsenal.

There's also the Speleologist machine gun from Echoes, which comes with Deconstruct and Killing Tally. Of all the Legendary rolls available, this is one of the more intriguing combinations on offer. Killing Tally remains a solid perk, giving the weapon some additional appeal compared to several of the other choices in Xur's inventory.

Outside of weapons and armor, you can still pick up valuable materials from Xur, including Ascendant Shards, enhancement resources, Glimmer, and Deep Sight Harmonizers. Those Harmonizers may become even more useful in the near future since crafted weapons are expected to benefit from tier upgrades and enhancements once the June update goes live.

This week's inventory may not be remembered as one of Xur's strongest appearances, but it serves as a final stop before a much larger refresh. With reputation rewards returning, new catalysts being added, and tiered armor on the way, Xur's role in Destiny 2 is about to expand considerably, giving you more reasons to pay attention to his weekly visits in the weeks ahead.
