The Dragon Quest franchise is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a special live stream where Square Enix revealed large updates about the IPs upcoming projects. With the company confirming the development of Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate.

Details regarding the project are limited but it was confirmed it'll be more mature than previous games and changes to the turn-based command system.

Nothing else is known and hopefully, this isn't Square Enix announcing a game way too early in development. As the company has a history of doing that.
