Flappy Bird Flaps Away on Sunday

Flappy Bird has been the number one downloaded game on both Google play and the iTunes store for weeks now. After its nearly unavoidable presence in the media this week, Flappy Bird has been bringing in nearly $50,000 in revenue daily.

Flappy Bird's simplicity is evident and its challenge apparent. A side-scroller that uses your device's touch screen, Flappy Bird has one control: tap to make Flappy Bird fly. The difficult part is maneuvering the bird over and under the Mario-esque green tubes to score and beating your high score.

Clearly a hit, it seems the frustratingly addictive mobile game will be no more. Today the creator of Flappy Bird, Dong Dguyen, tweeted, "I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore."

Posted this afternoon, the tweet was followed by a series of others with Dguyen explaining that removing the game has nothing to do with legal issues, that he will not sell the game and that he will continue to make games.
