Fans of Halo finally have a better idea of what to expect from Halo Campaign Evolved when it comes out later this summer. With the release of a new community Q&A, Halo Studios revealed a lot of important details about the upcoming remake, such as gameplay features, customization choices, co-op balance, early access, and the Collector's Edition that is selling out very quickly.

The project is getting more and more exciting, and the newest information points to a remake that will focus on recreating the original experience while adding a few modern touches, rather than making it a live-service release with lots of features. What won't be included is one of the main points of discussion.

Halo Campaign Evolved Cuts Fan-Favorite Features

Even though the game's graphics have been greatly improved, Halo Studios has stated that there are no plans at this time for either a photo mode or a theater mode. Some players are likely to be let down by this choice because the series is known for making memorable moments and beautiful screenshots.

The company said that players can still make their own images by using gameplay modifiers like the Acrophobia Skull, which lets players fly around levels, and the Blind Skull, which gets rid of the HUD and weapon models. Because the remake puts a lot of focus on new graphics, the lack of those tools stands out.

A lot of players had hoped for more ways to record and share those moments, but Halo Studios seems set on keeping development focused on the mission.

A number of questions about customizing were also answered in the Q&A. No matter what device they play on, players will need a Microsoft account and an Xbox Gamertag to be able to progress and play with other players across platforms. Also, people who want their personalized Spartan to show up throughout the story will have to change their plans.

Halo Studios stated that custom armor will not show up in campaign cutscenes because the game uses pre-rendered cinematic scenes that are meant to keep the story experience intact. The well-known Mark V armor set is another feature that caught people's attention. The armor can be unlocked and used, but it will only be available during the three bonus prequel tasks and not during the main campaign.

More care is being paid to the remake's co-op system than just making it harder. The number of enemies you face will depend on how many people are playing and the hard level you choose, according to Halo Studios. When there are more people, the enemies can get bigger, stronger, and the AI can act smarter.

When fighting, enemies will react better, dodge grenades more often, and make better choices when they are battling players. It looks like the goal is to make co-op feel hard without just making enemies stronger.

Fans of old-school games also got some good news. The Stowed Reload Skull brings back a form of the famous reload trick from the first Halo: Combat Evolved. It lets weapons keep reloading even when they are holstered. The mechanic works differently than in the original game, but it gives you the same edge in battle.

Not every fan's wish was granted, though. Halo Studios said that there will be no killings in Halo Campaign Evolved.

The studio also put an end to rumors about what material would be added in the future by saying that the project is not meant to become a live-service game. At the moment, there are no plans for story expansions, new skulls, firefight modes, more customization options, or big gameplay additions after the game comes out.

The studio says its main goal is still to accurately recreate the original Halo campaign while adding three new prequel missions that build on what happened before the main story.

A lot of players were interested in Sergeant Johnson's strong Stanchion weapon, which has been shown off a lot in promotional materials. Halo Studios stated that the weapon can only be used by Johnson, which is bad news for people who wanted to use it themselves. People have called the Stanchion his "personal firearm." It will only be used in the prequel tasks and won't be able to be used by the player.

Halo Campaign Evolved Collector's Edition

Players who were looking forward to playing the game before it came out were also let down. Halo Studios said there are no plans for a public demo before the game comes out. The Premium Edition is the only way to get to play early. Starting July 23, it gives you up to five days of early entry and comes with a digital art book and a bunch of extra cosmetic items.

Along with working on the game's gameplay, the studio also dealt with the huge demand for the Collector's Edition. When pre-orders for the special package opened, they sold out very quickly, much faster than expected. This version is one of the most sought-after Halo games in recent years because it comes with an exclusive statue and other physical collectibles.

People in the community were worried that scalpers would buy a lot of them and then sell them online for more than they were worth.

Halo Studios, on the other hand, says that an internal review with retail partners found no proof of widespread scalping. The company said that there were only a few sales that looked fishy. It was said that those orders were canceled, and the units that were impacted were put back into use.

Even though there are resale ads online, the studio says that most Collector's Editions ended up in the hands of real fans and not professional resellers. Halo Studios also said that the Collector's Edition was always meant to be a limited-edition item and that there are no plans to make more at this time. That probably means that collectors who missed the first pre-order time will still only be able to buy them on the secondary market.

As the release date gets closer, Halo Campaign Evolved looks like it will be a focused reimagining of one of the most important games in gaming history.

Fans may not get all the features they wanted in the remake, but Halo Studios seems determined to give fans a smooth return to the original adventure while adding some new surprises along the way. Now the real question is if this method will be good enough for the long-time Halo players when they finally return.
