Horizon 3 Rumors: New Leaks, Release Date and Aloy's Fate

Horizon 3 is said to be Aloy's final quest. While Guerrilla Games has not announced anything yet, sources indicate that this will be her final mission. The conclusion of Horizon Forbidden West set the stage for an even larger war, with the AI-powered force Nemesis posing a significant threat to Earth.

Some fans believe Aloy will have to sacrifice herself to end Nemesis, setting up a dramatic and emotional conclusion to her story. However, that does not imply the end of the Horizon world. Guerrilla Games has already indicated that it would like to continue the franchise past Aloy's story.

There is also a different Horizon multiplayer game in the works, with a new set of characters and its unique visual style. That implies that, whereas Aloy's story is wrapping up, the Horizon world is going to expand with new stories and new heroes. Rumors of the announcement of Horizon 3 are growing stronger, with some insiders suggesting that a reveal is imminent.

Sony is likely, however, to reveal the game at a PlayStation event later this year, perhaps as part of a summer showcase. PlayStation likes to reveal big games in stages, so the first teaser may be a logo or brief cinematic rather than a full gameplay trailer. If history is any indication, we may have to wait all the way to 2025 for an in-depth gameplay demo. 

We can hazard an educated guess on a possible release date by observing the production cycle of the previous Horizon games. Horizon Zero Dawn came out in 2017, and Horizon Forbidden West in 2022, a five-year hiatus. 

If Guerrilla remains on the same trajectory, Horizon 3 might be out as soon as late 2026.  There are other rumors that suggest it might get pushed to 2027, possibly releasing alongside the PlayStation 6.  If that's the case, Horizon 3 may be a cross-gen or next-gen title that fully utilizes the new hardware. 

One of the biggest questions regarding Horizon 3 is how expansive its world will be.  Based on leaked details, the game will go beyond the locations explored in the first two games, potentially taking us to entirely new continents.  This could make Horizon 3 the largest open-world entry in the series to date. 

The story of the game should be centered on Aloy's next battle against Nemesis, which will be an even bigger threat than anything he has faced in the past. There's room for more tribes and allies to be added, as well as deeper combat mechanics and traversal.  

If Horizon 3 really is the conclusion of Aloy's narrative, Guerrilla Games will surely go all out for an epic, cinematic conclusion. As the debate for Horizon 3 continues, fans are divided over whether Aloy's story should truly end. 

Some believe she merits additional games, yet others consider that the time has come for the franchise to move forward and attempt different characters and storylines.  Guerrilla Games has already intimated that it is interested in broadening the universe, with spin-offs and even remakes of older games on the agenda.
