Designed by Dutch developer Guerrilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is an original open-world role-playing game set in a post-apocalyptic universe. It can be a bit tricky to decide which skills to pursue, but don’t worry—this guide will cover that, ensuring all the fights you have are somewhat balanced.

Recommended Skills to get

  • Silent Strike
  • Lure Call
  • Concentration
  • Double Shot
  • Gatherer
  • Dodge Prowess/Knock down/ Triple Shot

Silent Strike

After fighting off the first machines, you will realize that fighting off the machines stealthily is a good way of saving your hit points. The advantages that come with Silent Strike are that it is very effective early on, helping you easily pick off enemies before even announcing yourself. Although it is a great skill, it does fall off later in the playthrough when your other attacks become stronger.

Your alternatives are Strike from Above and Below, and Leader Strike isn’t that great, if not significantly inferior. Leader Strike does become useful later in the game, but it still can’t compete with the other skills. I would just always recommend Silent Strike.

Lure Call

Lure Call and Silent Strike go hand in hand. You can hide in bushes or behind obstacles and lure the enemy in to pick them off quietly. It works on all sorts of enemies, but you will need a line of sight. I recommend luring them in first and then sitting behind an obstacle.

Concentration

It’s the go-to range support skill. You’ll be able to shoot arrows with pinpoint accuracy when you slow time down. This is a very neat feature for taking parts off machines or hitting people in the heads. Additionally, it leads to Double Shot, which is another ranged skill. It’s one of the best investments you can get early on.

Double Shot

Heavy Lifer is, unfortunately, a skill you must get in order to get Double Shot, as it’s pretty useless, and the increased movement speed that you do get with this skill has a minuscule effect. But Double Shot makes it worth it; it allows you to shoot two around, which means you can deal double initial strike damage, allowing you to take out important machine parts in one go with.

If you go for a double Tearblast or Hardpoint arrow, you are looking at hefty damage. Landing a double headshot is pretty much a guaranteed kill for most humans. This works on all arrows, so you can easily stack ailments like Shock, Burning, or Freeze with it.

Gatherer

It takes one point, and you’ll get a steady flow of extra resources. If you are playing in the higher difficulty settings, you’ll want to stock up on arrows, traps, and bombs to handle tough encounters. The Gatherer is super helpful for meeting those resource needs.

Dodge Prowess/Knock Down/Triple Shot

You should pick either one, depending on your style of play. Dodge Prowes change the way you fight; you’ll be able to do long dodge rolls that let you avoid most monster attacks with just one click. It can even help you attack because you can quickly return your attention to your enemies instead of having to run and default dodge all the time.

The best thing about Knock Down is that most medium machines will now fall over after just one heavy strike. This includes things like Croc bots, Sawtooths, and Scavengers. Later in the game, some of the stronger, corrupted machines do not get affected by it. But it’s still useful in a lot of situations.

Triple Shot Increases the damage or armor buildup of your first bow attack. You can use it all the time, but it takes a while to fletch more arrows into the bow when enemies have already spotted you.

Okay, that's it. You quickly gathered the strongest Skills, which will make you a formidable opponent in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.
