Marvel Rivals Fantastic Four, X-Men & Ultron Characters Leaked

A number of unlockable Marvel Rivals heroes could be making their debut in future updates.

Marvel Rivals, the highly anticipated superhero shooter, is finally here. The game came in blasting through, threatening to displace Overwatch 2's somewhat diminishing reign as the premier hero shooter around. It includes the natural cast of spandex and colorful powers with heroes like Squirrel Girl and Spider-Man. While there have already been 33 playable heroes in the game since launch, leaked Data suggests that more are on the way.

Of course, everyone already assumed that more heroes would be added eventually, but it turns out some are already present in the game files. December 4 saw a reputable leaker, Matfacio, post a list of character IDs and some names for a few characters. These characters are apparently already pretty much coded into the game, with some having full sprites and others lacking many components. So far, these characters are the Human Torch, Ultron, Mr. Fantastic, Blade, Invisible Woman, The Thing, and four other mystery characters.

The Fantastic Four characters are at the top of the leaked data. It makes sense for the game to have the Fantastic Four, comprising Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, The Thing, and the Human Torch. The main story revolves around Victor Von Doom, the team's arch-nemesis. Furthermore, they're probably going to be officially released around the time the upcoming Fantastic Four Movie drops.

Other than that, Ultron and Blade are in the game's files. While the reasons for having Ultron locked behind are unattainable, Blade is also probably not released due to the upcoming movie, with the developers possibly hoping to release it alongside the movie.

Now, two unnamed characters mentioned as Mystery Characters in the leaked data are probably Jean Grey and Emma Frost, as they also have files in the game. The telepaths are some of the strongest mutants in the Marvel Universe and have long been members of the famous X-Men. Could they hint at a potential appearance from the two characters in another Marvel media? Only time will tell.

These heroes have skills and are part of the game's code. However, they are "currently disabled through the game's configs." Some are completely developed and playable, while others seem to be in a "prototype" or "testing" stage of development.

The leak also suggested that there are a handful of other characters without visuals or names yet to be listed, indicated as numbers #9,200, #1053, and #4015. While we don't know whose characters they are, the leak suggested that the files associated with Jean Gray and Emma Frost in-game, so it's safe to assume that they are two of them; #4015 is a hero in the "Test Phase", whereas #9,200 is a "Prototype".
