Here's a character guide to Logan, the Wolverine in Marvel Rivals.

Game Guide by Joyramen on  Dec 08, 2024

In this Marvel Rivals guide, we're diving into Logan, the Wolverine. As a duelist, Wolverine is all about getting in close and taking out key targets. He's not a support character; instead, he's a damage dealer with high mobility. Wolverine starts with 300 HP and moves at 7 meters per second, which lets him chase down most targets that typically move at 6 meters per second. His ability to disrupt teams with his damage and mitigation makes him a force to be reckoned with.

He outlasts other melee duelists and, thanks to his movement abilities, is difficult to pin down and focus fire. He deals massive damage, a lot of which is a percentage of the target's maximum HP, meaning even tanky heroes can fall to him solo.

However, he struggles against high-mobility characters like Cloak and Dagger, or flying heroes, as he has trouble reaching them. Wolverine also depends heavily on having a team to capitalize on the chaos he creates—without a healer or damage support, Wolverine can become a hit-and-run fighter, relying on guerrilla tactics. Regardless, he's a lot of fun to play, and we'll break down his skills, passives, and ultimate abilities before discussing how to play him in Marvel Rivals.

Skills & Passives

Let's start with Wolverine's passives, as they play a big role in his overall gameplay. The most important is Berserker Rage. Wolverine starts at 0 rage, and the rage meter fills up to 100 as you hit targets or take damage. Each ability generates a certain amount of rage:

  • Savage Claw and Berserker Claw give 7 rages per hit.
  • Vicious Rampage and the snatch effect of Feral Leap give 20 rages.
  • His ultimate gives 25 rages, and each hit taken provides 3 rages.

Rage increases Wolverine's attack strength by scaling with the target's maximum health, making his attacks stronger the more rage he has. His passive Regenerative Healing Factor also allows him to recover health when he drops to low HP, gaining a bonus of 150 to 300 health based on his rage. After 3 seconds, this bonus converts into healing, and the cooldown resets after each kill, encouraging aggressive, berserk playstyles.

Wolverine's Abilities

Savage Claw: A fast, three-hit combo dealing 15 damage per strike. This attack scales with the target's max HP, making it effective against tanky heroes. At max rage, it scales from 1.5% to 6% of the target's max health per hit.

Feral Leap: Wolverine leaps in an arc, grabbing an enemy in front of him, dealing 35 damage upon impact and another 35 damage when smashing them down. This move also triggers a berserk state for 4 seconds, dealing extremely fast basic attacks that scale with rage, rapidly melting enemies.

Undying Animal: This ability reduces damage taken by 50% for 5 seconds, essentially doubling your effective health. Use this when engaging in heavy combat or after leaping into a group to survive longer.

Vicious Rampage: A dash forward that deals 15 damage plus 1.5% of the target's max health. With a 3-second cooldown, it's great for quick in-and-out engagements while building up rage.

Wolverine also teams up with Hulk in a special combo, Metal Cannonball, where Hulk throws Wolverine anywhere. This lets you dive into action, with Hulk following up with his own leap.

Ultimate Ability

Wolverine's ultimate ability, Last Stand, knocks enemies in front of him into the air and slams them down at a location of his choosing. The initial attack deals 50 damage, with another 50 upon impact, plus an additional 10% of the target's max health as bonus damage, scaling to 30% at max rage. This ability is a powerful area-of-effect tool, instantly dealing with substantial damage that can't be avoided once triggered.

Gameplay Strategy

Now, let's look at how to effectively play Wolverine in Marvel Rivals. At the start of the match, assess the enemy's positioning and choose your moment wisely. Wolverine excels when the enemy is out of position, and with a healer or shield support, he can cause chaos and quickly eliminate key targets. His mobility and damage output allow you to dive in, deal damage, and retreat to regenerate rage, making him a terror for enemy backlines.

Wolverine can quickly burn down tanks and outmaneuver enemies. However, be careful with certain matchups, like Cloak and Dagger, who can evade him easily, or flying heroes who he struggles to reach. As Wolverine, keep your movement options open, and take advantage of your rage to maximize your damage output.

Wolverine's Last Stand ultimate is key for taking out multiple enemies, especially those who are out of position. Don't be afraid to use your ultimate to help the team, even if it doesn't immediately kill the enemy; sometimes, supporting your team with a well-timed ultimate can be just as crucial.

Conclusion

Wolverine is a highly effective hero when paired with the right team but can feel lacking if your team is unable to capitalize on the chaos he creates. He has insane damage output and survivability when managed well, especially with the right combination of rage and healing. However, be mindful of his weaknesses against certain high-mobility or ranged heroes. With a little practice, Wolverine's berserk playstyle can dominate the battlefield, making him a fun and rewarding hero to master.
