Marvel's Spider-Man 3 Will Be PlayStation 6 Launching Title
Marvel's Spider-Man 3 is most certainly being developed for the PlayStation 6 system.

Considering that most of Insomniac's highly anticipated games are still in development, Ted Price's resignation has gotten the studio into a pretty compromising situation. Insomniac fans seem more worried about projects Ted's abandoning mid-stream, even though his replacements seem qualified to pick up where he's leaving off. When we talk about Insomniac's projects, we obviously point toward Marvel's Wolverine and Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, both of which are still in development.
Not long ago, Brian Horton left Marvel's Wolverine to work on Perfect Dark. However, Insomniac's new co-CEO, Ryan Schneider, confirmed that the game is running beautifully and will be launched at the right time, which we believe will be 2026. Fans, however, are more concerned about Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 because not only will this game be the final chapter in the three-game narrative arc, but it will also be massive in terms of the size of both previous entries.
We previously dug that Silk would be a playable character in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, while Green Goblin's major antagonist had already been announced. Doc Ock’s return was teased at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and major enemies like Carnage and Chameleon were still on the loose. So, the third installment has so much to cover in terms of narrative if Insomniac truly intends to give the series a grand finale.
Another certainty is that the Insomniac Spider-Universe will also have Venom, which should ideally be discussed in the game. These concepts for The Great Web game and its campaign narrative could find their way into Marvel Spider-Man 3, adding to the narrative via either a side plot or maybe a Spider-Verse expansion for that game.
However, given that the PlayStation 6 is expected to arrive in 2027, the likelihood of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 being released in 2027 seems all too familiar; both Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales were the launching titles for PlayStation 5 in November 2020. The real scenario here is most likely that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is being developed for the PlayStation 6.
From previously published information and leaks, we know that the PlayStation 6 design is complete. The console is already in the pre-Sci validation, with the A0 tape-out scheduled for late this year. Based on all the PlayStation console releases so far, the difference between their release is seven years. Given PlayStation 5 was released in 2020, the PlayStation 6 is likely to be released in late 2027.
Now, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 being a first-party title means it should technically use the capabilities of the PlayStation 6 to its full advantage. With the multiversal aspects of the great web and swinging through different dimensions, that would be something spectacular, something technologically impossible on the PlayStation 5.
Imagine playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 with the Next-Gen AMD UDNA. PlayStation 6’s APU will be able to expand on the AI machine learning innovation that drives PSSR, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, which employs AI to boost gaming resolutions and framerate. Additionally, AMD 3D V-Cache is stated to improve gaming performance.
