Today Rooster Teeth revealed tragic news. Monty Oum, creator of Haloid, Dead Fantasy and RWBY, has passed away at the age of 33 after suffering a severe allergic reaction after a routine medical test which place the animator into a coma ten days ago. Monty did not recover and passed away yesterday afternoon.
Rooster Teeth’s Matt Hullum wrote a journal on the Rooster Teeth official page explaining the entire situation.
Rooster Teeth created a gofundme fundraiser looking for donations in the ongoing medical expenses during his treatment ten days ago. As of today the donations stand at over 150,000 USD and will be used to “help his family deal with the costs of his care and his passing.” The Rooster Teeth community has asked that we honored the Monty by doing something creative. Rooster Teeth has suspended all video uploads for today so they can honor their friend.
