Naughty Dog Developing Two New Games

There are not just one but two new games coming from Naughty Dog.

The rumors about Naughty Dog making a first-person open-world game have got a whole new twist. It appears that they aren't making just a single game but two brand-new IPs. Naughty Dog, known for single-player titles like The Last of Us and Uncharted, is taking a bold step into the uncharted territory of first-person games. Naughty Dog hasn't been quite generous with details on the game, so we've been tracking their updates regularly, and this latest update looks like an exciting new path for the studio.

It seems that the two games that Naughty Dog currently has in development have got a shred of a leak, and this is just one of many new leaks that have recently surfaced. The first game will have a sci-fi setting, where you will have to explore the space and all that in an open-world setting, much like what we've recently seen in Starfield. A few individuals have previously voiced their belief that Naughty Dog is developing a game in contrast to Destiny, while few have mentioned they might follow in the footsteps of Mass Effect or Skyrim if the game included an RPG plot that allowed players to travel to all the different planets.

Even though Bethesda Game Studios was best at making games like this, Starfield didn't live up to its hype at all. So this is something Naughty Dog will cautiously consider, and their sci-fi game might just be influenced by Mass Effect and other games with strong narratives and plenty of player freedom. I'm a huge fan of the Mass Effect series, and if Naughty Dog truly makes something inspired by this series, it's something the fans would love most.

Of the two games that have leaked, the second one is among the most intriguing. Specifically, I can't wait for this one because it resembles The Witcher series. And if you have been following my posts, you already know that I'm a huge fan of The Witcher series. Yes, Naughty Dog is at work on a fantasy RPG with a medieval setting. The information we have about this game hints that you take on the role of a supernatural being, like Dracula—or perhaps a werewolf—though we can't be sure.

Whatever character you play, either Dracula or a werewolf, you'll be equipped with some form of supernatural ability. Even though we will naturally guess based on the first-person open-world genre, Naughty Dog is developing a game inspired by The Witcher 3. I think they're aiming for something comparable to one another. The Witcher 3 doesn't really have any competition, even if you put Baldur's Gate or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the same table. So, I won't be surprised if Naughty Dog targets that potential market even though CD Projekt RED is close to releasing The Witcher 4.

This is likely why Naughty Dog avoided mentioning specific games in the most recent interview. However, according to all the information we've gathered so far, these are the games they are developing at the moment, and I must say, both of them seem highly compelling. I am really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us.

Playing as someone like Commander Shepard and exploring the vast open galaxy like Starfield with a high emphasis on storytelling seems very interesting as much as playing in the Medieval Times as Dracula or a werewolf with a Witcher-like setting. If they could manage to deliver a solid story and gameplay simultaneously, I could see a lot of promise in both of these games. And we all know very well that Naughty Dog is great at writing narratives and character design, especially since Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
