Very recently, we had news from Hangar 13, which is the studio that brought us the Mafia trilogy, that the chief operating officer Matthew Urban and the head of the studio Haden Blackman were leaving the company. This is not big news on its own, the studios always change hands and heads. But according to the latest news, a new Mafia game is at work.
Reportedly, Haden Blackman is going to be replaced by Nick Baynes, and he is expected to be in charge of leading this new Mafia game. Baynes reportedly has more than 30 years of experience in leadership, so the fans are hopeful about the game. A new Mafia game was something that has always been rumored about, and seeing it come alive has inevitably excited the fans.
We don’t know many of the details about the new Mafia game yet. We know that the game is expected to use Unreal Engine 5 rather than the Illusion Engine that was employed by Mafia III. This is not all that we know about the game though. We also know that the new game is not going to be a sequel, it is going to be a prequel, meaning that it is going to take place earlier than the 1930s before the first game.
Fans of the franchise are happy to hear about their favorite game getting a well-deserved prequel. But some are concerned about the change in the studio as well. Furthermore, the fact that it is going to be made in Unreal Engine 5 makes it all the better- For the engine is renowned for its flexibility and realism.
