Next God of War Game To Feature Calliope, Kratos' Daughter?

The 2018 God of War Remake transported Kratos from Greek mythology to the Norse kingdoms, where he fought alongside his son Atreus.  However, even after God of War: Ragnarök concluded their trip across the Nine Realms, Kratos' narrative felt incomplete. According to a new rumor, the next game in the series will reveal a surprising secret: Kratos has a daughter he never knew about.

According to the rumor, his daughter, Calliope, was born in Greece but was transferred to Egypt, where she determined her fate independently of her father. Kratos's background is plagued with dark secrets, and this twist could result in a heated confrontation between him and his long-lost child.

If the rumors are true, Calliope is supposed to be roughly 20 years old and, like her father, has a fighting mentality. However, unlike Atreus, whose skills included archery and shape-shifting, her story may be wholly based on Egyptian mythology in the next God of War game. According to the theory, after Ragnarök, Kratos discovers his daughter's existence and travels to Egypt to save her.

But Egypt contains more than just mysteries; its most powerful gods will stand in Kratos' way.  Fans are already speculating about future confrontations, with Kratos facing off against Anubis' soul warriors, fighting in arenas illuminated by Ra's sun power, and straining against Set's fatal curse. Egyptian mythology is rife with powerful deities that might test the former Spartan-like never before. Could Osiris' mythical resurrection narrative be related to Kratos' own past? Or will a new force emerge, altering Kratos' fate forever?

Before switching to Norse mythology in 2018, Santa Monica Studios apparently investigated an Egyptian setting for God of War. Concept art was even made, but the studio eventually felt that Norse mythology was a better fit for the time. Now that Ragnarök has concluded, fans are wondering if the franchise will finally take its long-awaited plunge into Egyptian mythology.

If the rumors are true, Calliope could play a totally different role than Atreus. While Atreus was excellent at archery and transmutation, she may possess great Egyptian magic. Magic is an important aspect of Egyptian mythology, and Kratos may obtain new mystical skills in this scenario. Perhaps Calliope will teach him how to survive in Egypt's mystical realm, while Kratos demonstrates what it actually means to be a warrior.

One of the most pressing questions about this claim is how Kratos' daughter fits into his already complicated backstory. Kratos has never mentioned having any children other than his late daughter Calliope and son Atreus. However, God of War has always revolved around ideas of fate and hidden histories.

Given that Egyptian mythology is centered on death and the afterlife, Kratos' quest to Egypt could be inspired by the discovery of a long-buried secret. Anubis, the deity of mummification and the afterlife, could have a significant impact on Kratos' fate. Could he be offered the opportunity to resurrect someone he had lost—at a terrible cost? Osiris' resurrection myth may also have a direct connection to Kratos' previous problems with life and death. If these reports are true, the next game may be as much an emotional adventure as it is physical.

Another idea offers a much darker twist: Calliope might not exist at all. Egyptian mythology is intricately linked to illusions, curses, and divine manipulation. It's possible that Kratos will be haunted by false memories if the gods deceive him into believing he has a daughter. If this is the case, the upcoming God of War might have one of the series' most innovative storytelling experiences, blurring the lines between reality and divine trickery.

As of yet, Santa Monica Studio has not officially confirmed the upcoming God of War installment. However, leaks and fan debates indicate that a significant shift is imminent. The studio is infamous for keeping crucial narrative details under wraps until they are officially revealed.  Prior to the publication of God of War: Ragnarök, similar rumors circulated, several of which proved to be true.

If the Egyptian setting is real, when may we expect the game? Based on prior development cycles, the earliest possible release date appears to be 2026 or 2027. Ragnarök took approximately four years to develop, and shifting to a whole new mythology could take much longer.  However, Santa Monica Studio has already been secretly working on the next game.

One thing is certain: Kratos' odyssey is far from over.  While Ragnarök seemed to grant Kratos peace, history has proved that Kratos is never far from battle and struggle. If the reports regarding Egypt are true, it may usher in a new era for the series.  God of War (2018) redefined the series; might Egyptian mythology do the same?

Kratos' potential confrontations with Egyptian gods are the subject of much conjecture. Anubis, the ruler of the afterlife, might be a significant enemy. Set, the deity of chaos and war, may challenge Kratos directly.  Ra, the solar deity, may serve as a guide or a betrayer. Osiris' resurrection myth may be inextricably linked to Kratos' past. Some fans believe Kratos will team up with Ra to combat Set, but given the franchise's history, betrayal by the gods is always possible.

The underlying issue remains: does Kratos genuinely have a daughter, or is this another divine trick? If these reports are true, the God of War series could be embarking on its most ambitious and dramatic journey ever. Could Kratos finally find a new purpose, or will he be condemned to repeat the cycle of conflict and suffering?
