People Are Cheesing Their Way To The Overwatch Genji Oni Skin

If Heroes of the Storm looks too intimidating to get the Overwatch Genji Oni skin, then here's a way to do it super easy.

Currently, developer Blizzard has one of their infamous cross promotions going on; one of the first events that include their most popular title, Overwatch. People can earn a rare Oni skin for Genji, by playing Heroes of the Storm and people are taking that to heart.

Blizzard wouldn’t be Blizzard if they didn’t have ridiculous prerequisites for their skins, whether it’s a huge price tag or tons of fake currency. In this case, the Nexus Challenge in Heroes of the Storm asks players to team up with a friend and play at least 15 games to collect the Genji skin. Seeing as this is an arena game, a regular match will take an average time of twenty minutes, rarely much less and sometimes much more. That amount is a lot of time to invest to get a skin and finding people to play Heroes of the Storm is hard enough as it is. No shade, the game is fantastic, but it is the third wheel in the arena genre; it’s even on the lower bracket of Blizzard games.

Well, suddenly, acquiring that amazing skin has become a lot more efficient. Certain Heroes of the Storm players are queuing up with each other to play against artificial intelligence (AI) opponents of the lowest, beginner grade. In doing so, games become absolute landslides and take only minutes. The most efficient manner goes for a specific tactic, which will roll over a lane and get to the end in around just four minutes. That makes acquiring the Genji Oni skin a matter that will take about an hour: One hour.

Most games will have a Sylvanas hero, who can nullify tower fire with black arrows and let players just take free shots. Personally, I went for Raynor, both because it’s the easiest character for players who have been out of it a while, but also because their ability boosts attack speeds. At first, I had taken Azmodan, for their beam ability that stacks damage to one target, but it didn’t exactly grow quick enough, while Raynor’s abilities pushed everyone faster. With one more character as a healer, it’s possible to just push from one side to the next with little resistance.

One friendly random soul later, who accompanied me to my goal, the Genji Oni skin was mine, along with the Zarya character for Heroes of the Storm.

For those who want to go the extra mile, playing 30 games with a friend drops an even bigger reward, though only specifically for the game itself. After a full Nexus Challenge, players can walk away with four heroes: Auriel, Greymane, Kerrigan and Li-Ming. That’s not a bad haul to work towards at all, as 3 out of 4 of those picks are on top of the current tier list. And, again, extras are expensive in Blizzland, so it’s free money. Additionally, Blizzard incentivizes staying on Heroes of the Storm with a 30-day Stimpack that boosts experience and gold rates, as well as an Orochi Hovercycle mount.

What are two hours of effort for that many goodies? Go get it!
