PlayStation State of Play: What's Coming In June 2025?
Rumors, confirmations, and what Sony might reveal soon....
News by Eisoptrophile on May 23, 2025
PlayStation State of Play in June is possibly the most recent back-and-forth rumors. Though earlier reports indicated there was no update, several insiders have now verified that something is scheduled for June, probably a State of Play rather than a significant showcase.
Though information is scarce, several titles that could be included include Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yōtei, and SAROS. A June event fits to meet third-party requirements and bolster impending releases; a larger presentation may follow later in September. It would make sense from a timing perspective to steer clear of being eclipsed by upcoming happenings such as Xbox's and Nintendo's.
Earlier reports indicated that Sony wasn’t planning for a PlayStation State of Play, at least not in June. Most of the reports and rumors predicted something would happen, but none precisely indicated it wasn't happening; rather, they replied they hadn't heard anything about it. Though the question was worded such that it might have suggested it was being passed over, there is still no evidence either way.
Originally, Giant Bomb editor Jeff Grubb suggested something was on the way; then, it seemed to be getting pushed aside since no one had heard anything. Now, however, he has returned with further specifics. On his podcast, he noted that although he believes more probably a State of Play would be held, there is surely something planned for June. He also pointed out that anything beyond that is mere conjecture, which is a helpful reminder since individuals frequently add extra information to what insiders say and act on it as fact.
Regarding credibility, Grubb isn't flawless; however, he is usually quite correct on PlayStation event dates. Moreover, some games — like Death Stranding 2, which has a confirmed final trailer coming around then, Ghost of Yōtei, SAROS, and maybe even Corey Barlog's project or Marvel’s Wolverine—make sense to present in June. Though the list is not very long, Sony has something to show.
If the aim is to highlight a few first-party products and help third-party partners, a PlayStation State of Play makes sense. Typically, in the past, September might be a full exhibition later. Given upcoming Xbox and Nintendo events, it would be illogical to wait too long before acting. He would want to arrange an event before Death Stranding 2 eclipses something at the end of June. Indeed, everything points to something in June—most likely a State of Play—and more may come later.
