It seems like every day now, there's at least one game out there that is being given away for free, not that this is a thing to complain about. The latest release in a long line of freebies is none other than Snake Pass, which is currently free on the Humble Store.
For everyone who is coming fresh from the Sony presentation about PlayStation 5 (PS5), Snake Pass might be a good fit. PS5 is showing a lot of support for platform games and this slithering serpent title has exactly those nostalgic qualities. Reminiscent of old Rare properties like Banjo-Kazooie, the game from developer Sumo Digital is all about maneuvering a cartoon snake around a set of obstacles, in a bright and cheerful world. Considering a snake isn't exactly a biped, Snake Pass has some interesting controls that leverage both analog controls, as well as gripping mechanisms. It's a pretty clever and lighthearted game.
For those who need a little more scope, Ark: Survival Evolved has just become the latest free game on the Epic Games Store. This long-running project is not just about the usual survival elements of crafting and resource gathering. Another important aspect in Ark is the taming and maintaining of the diverse wildlife in the game. There are dinosaurs, sure, but Ark has since added tons of other animals, like sabertooth tigers and giant apes. It might feel a bit gargantuan at first, especially considering the community in Ark has divided the grounds some time ago, but anyone jumping in now will, at least, get the benefit of having an influx of new players around them. Just remember that social dynamics in the game are more important than you might first realize. So, if someone comes at you charging on a velociraptor, don't immediately panic. They might just be out recruiting new players who are lost.
Have fun out there and let us know in the comments if you happen to pick up Snake Pass or Ark: Survival Evolved.
