Since the Helldivers 2 PNS controversy, PC gamers have constantly debated Sony's decision to integrate PSN with its PC gaming lineup. However, as we approach the rerelease of Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered, Sony is showing no signs of relenting in its PSN login prerequisite. This means that playing Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered on PC requires a PlayStation Network membership.

Jan-Bart van Beek, director of art and animation at Guerrilla Studios, recently posted to the PlayStation Blog to discuss Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered for PCs. The upcoming game will feature PlayStation overlay and trophy compatibility, similar to previous PC versions of PlayStation games. An indication within a reference verifies that a PSN account is necessary for the PC version.

PlayStation Network (PSN) integration with PC games has been met with mixed reviews. Steam players were not impressed with God of War Ragnarök when it was released for PC because of the login requirement. This resulted in fewer active players than God of War 2018 for PC, which did not initially necessitate a PSN account. More precisely, God of War Ragnarök had more than 70,000 players at its peak, whereas the previous installment had 35,615 players.

Despite this, the PC release of Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered is still on Track. Despite requiring a PlayStation Network account, Ghost of Tsushima quickly became Steam's best-selling release after its release on Steam. How this develops is something we can only guess at at this point.

The release date for Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered on PC and PS5 is October 31, 2024. In partnership with Nixxes's supervision, the rerelease includes more than ten hours of newly recorded dialogue and motion capture. The graphics have been enhanced to match those of Horizon: Forbidden West, the sequel.

Those who enjoyed Horizon will find plenty of new content to enjoy this year. LEGO Horizon: Adventures will be available for PlayStation 5 and personal computers on November 14, 2024, as announced during the September 2024 State of Play. As with the last game, this one also requires a PSN account for PC play.
