There Will Be A ToeJam and Earl Movie
It has been announced that a ToeJam and Earl movie, of all things, is in development at Amazon Studios.

It would appear that ToeJam and Earl, of all game franchises, is set to get its own film adaptation from Amazon Studios. The classic franchise began back in 1991 and, while it was a success upon release, has mostly been considered a cult classic since then rather than something particularly large in the mainstream, which makes this a rather fascinating thing to be turned into a movie.
The ToeJam and Earl movie was announced in an exclusive report in The Hollywood Reporter, and the movie will be written by Amos Vernon and Nunzio Randazzo, the writers behind Hotel Transylvania 4, so there are certainly writers attached to this adaptation, and if you enjoy the Hotel Transylvania films then maybe this one will be for you. It also has Unanimous Media and Story Kitchen attached.
The adaptation of ToeJam and Earl already has a synopsis, and it is in line with the games: “Earth, their legends tell them, is the Paradise where the music that created their culture originated. Unfortunately for our heroes, not only do they wreck their ship, but they find that Earth is . . . well, not the haven they expected. But the music – that part was true. So begins their quest to find as much of that music as they can in the hope of saving their planet, and maybe ours as well.”
It should be interesting to see what comes of this latest adaptation, which joins other adaptations like Sifu, the Amazon Fallout series, and the Super Mario Bros. movie as part of the recent spate of video game adaptations that Hollywood has seemingly decided it wants to try and do again. Video game adaptations tend to have a bad reputation, as was explored in a recent feature on NoobFeeb, but at least a very random game is getting some love this time rather than the big-name games that usually get this kind of treatment.
