The CEO of Iron Gate - developer of new action RPG Valheim - has urged players to back up their files in the advent of "world-destroyer" bug

Speaking on Twitter, Richard Svensson had this to say:

"If you are playing Valheim this weekend, please backup your world and characters. The evil world-destroyer bug is still roaming free =("

Continuing in his Twitter thread, Svensson provided instructions on how to find the files:

"in windows Worlds & characters are saved in C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\"

Simply follow the directory and make a copy of the files within, ensuring you save them somewhere safe.

According to Svensson, the problem may be exacerbated by exiting the game using ALT+F4 rather than through the main menu - so don't do that.

Valheim is available now for PC and Linux.
