World War Z Developer Saber Interactive Purchased by Embracer Group

Saber Interactive has worked as an independent developer for 19 years, handling ports and occasionally making their own games like World War Z and NBA Playgrounds. Now, the company has been purchased by Embracer Group. Who also owns Koch Meda, Deep Silver, Coffee Stain, Amplifier Game, and perhaps the more notorious THQ Nordic.

In an official press release Saber Interactive and Embracer Group spoke about the initial purchase of $150 million and if milestones are met $375 million.

Their ambitious moves towards self-funding projects in recent years have been particularly impressive, especially with World War Z, which sold more than three million units. While Saber will remain a standalone company within Embracer Group, we look forward to collaborating with them to elevate their ability to create and market premier titles.”, says Lars Wingefors, Founder and CEO of Embracer Group.

We'll see how this deal will pan out. Saber Interactive has an established reputation making its own successful games and working on acclaimed titles such as the Halo franchise.
