South Park: The Fractured But Whole was one of the best games released last year. Successfully repeating the same stellar insanity that fans of the show come to expect within a unique superhero-themed world. Now the adventure continues with From Dusk Till Casa Bonita and while it's a short adventure it maintains the same amazing comedic style that the core campaign delivered.
The adventure is set in the Mexican-themed restaurant of Casa Bonita. Mysterion's sister has been smitten by the Vampire Kids and wants The New Kid to aid in her rescue. Coming along for the ride are Cartman, Kyle, and newcomer Henrietta. Henrietta is an excellent addition to the colorful cast of warriors with her own assortment of skills, but true to her character refuses to wear costumes. Speaking of costumes you can collect brand new items for new costumes that include Vampire-themed equipment.
The biggest addition to the DLC is a new class called Netherborn. As the name implies The New Kid can use dark energy to channel an array of abilities that include attacking with a scythe that knocks enemies back, summoning skeleton arms that attack in a cross pattern, and a single iron-maiden-like attack. Its ultimate attack allows for 3 turns of a supercharged version of each attack. It's a distinct class full of useful abilities and a welcome addition to the already robust collection of powers.
Like many of South Park: The Fractured But Whole's locations the environment has been intricately recreated for the game. The restaurant has everything conveyed in the show, from the cliff divers stage to Black Bart's cave. An arcade is also included with mini-games that include a standard air rifle shooting gallery, skee-ball, and South Park's version of Flappy Bird.
From Dusk Till Casa Bonita doesn't stray from the established formula with many gameplay concepts repeating themselves. You'll solve basic puzzles and compete in tactical fights against the Vampire Kids. However, this isn't an issue thanks to strong writing and excellent boss battles.
Like most of the game, you can expect some laugh-out-loud moments and iconic themes lifted directly from the show. With the Vampire Kids using red-colored items as blood-themed attacks and powerups and your friends constantly laughing at the Vampire Kids ideas of cool.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole From Dusk Till Casa Bonita will take around 2 hours to complete and collecting everything will add another hour. It's short but sweet with a lot of memorable moments and satire rich dialogue that fans will enjoy. If you're hungry for more South Park than From Dusk Till Casa Bonita will satisfy your hunger until the final DLC drops.
