Days Gone Remastered was a surprising announcement from Bend Studio, especially because fans of the game have been pleading for a sequel for years. While the new upgrade offers us bonus material, horde modes, and fresh challenges to maintain interest, the anticipation for Days Gone 2 hasn’t died yet. Since the Remastered is releasing in just two days, it’s anticipated that Bend Studio will shift their focus to developing the sequel. And there’s a big possibility for that. Let's find out.

Days Gone Remastered will fully utilize the PS5's hardware. Your 60 frames per second and crisp 4K resolution will make the Days Gone universe seem sharper and more sensitive. Furthermore, full DualSense support is included, so haptic feedback and precise triggers will allow you to really feel the pound of your bike, the explosion of bullets, and even the elements.

Although it is a minor alteration, it really adds to the immersive experience of riding through Oregon. In addition, the audio has been converted into 3D to give a more complex soundscape, load times are quicker, and lighting, textures, and draw distances have all been substantially improved. You might feel that the game world is more complex, more alive, and more complete.

It’s not a total reconcept; however, the initial version is retained in the AI, bike handling, and core mechanics. This is all about refining what made Days Gone excellent rather than redefining it. Now is the ideal moment to re-engage if you're interested in Deacon's Journey or missed it the first time around.

Then there’s the Broken Road DLC. This DLC concentrates on introducing fresh game modes and difficulties rather than extending the narrative in a typical way. First in line is Horde Assault, a survival arcade mode in which one fights constant sets of Freakers and other foes. The harder it becomes, the longer you live, and after 30 minutes, you will confront an infinite swarm. To assist you, you'll also find supply boxes containing injectors, weapons, including a brand-new flamethrower.

Additionally, for the most difficult Days Gone challenge—finishing Deacon's journey in one life—there is a permadeath option. Your options decide if you will restart after your death. Speedrun fans will appreciate a mode that allows them to race through the narrative as quickly as possible to achieve the top completion time.

Early unlocks such as the Drifter Crossbow, Nitrous Upgrade, Gas Tank Upgrade, Shroud Upgrade, and Monkey Wrench ability are also part of the DLC. Although there are no new map areas or story missions, these challenges provide around ten hours of fresh material. The Broken Road DLC will cover you if you want to try Days Gone differently and test your abilities and knowledge.

Apart from the remaster changes and the DLC challenges, there aren't many major new systems or cosmetics included. Still available in Days Gone from prior upgrades, the New Game+ mode was already present. Although checkpoints or access remain mostly unchanged, you will observe quicker load times, better sensitivity, and some DualSense abilities to make exploration, shooting, and riding more realistic. Fundamentally, this remaster is meant to enhance the original experience and provide fans a reason to reenter.

Great news if you are already a Days Gone fan: if you have the PS4 version, you may upgrade to the PS5 remaster for only $10; however, this does not apply if you got the game from the PS Plus subscription—you shall have to pay 49.99 for the entire Days Gone Remaster. Newcomers can purchase Days Gone Remastered on PS5 as a standalone digital title for $49.99. Nor are PC players left out—the Broken Road DLC begins on April 25th on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

There is a means for anyone to encounter Days Gone Definitive Edition, whether they're playing it for the first time or revisiting the game. This update is really cool, if not revolutionary, and folks are enthusiastic about it. It inspires fans to believe that maybe one day there will be a Days Gone 2, although it is quite possible. Bend Studio was reportedly developing a live-service game for Sony, but that project died several months ago. This means the team was reassigned to revive the Days Gone franchise, as Sony had finally realized its worth.

An official announcement would have made the fans' lives easier, but Sony obviously won’t allow Bend Studio to take such a step that might spoil the upcoming sales of the remaster. Much speculation and gossip surround why Days Gone 2 is not being developed. Some claim that Sony does not want it, while others say Bend's top management is uninterested, despite reports that say Days Gone was financially successful.

But that’s about to change if the remaster is financially successful. Both Sony and Bend’s management will rethink their decisions within the next few weeks. Moreover, Days Gone ended with a huge cliffhanger and an obvious invitation to a follow-up. No Studio would leave a game with a proper ending unless they had a sequel planned earlier.

For now, however, this remaster and DLC would be, at the very least, something until we have instructions otherwise. It provides fans with new content and motivation to play Days Gone again. Given the improved graphics, fresh challenge levels, and better performance, this is undoubtedly the best way to explore Days Gone Remastered and the Broken Road DLC. Whether you've followed for years or are starting now, there is much to be thrilled about.
