Along with Pikachu, Iwata announced Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, revealing three new Pokémon; Chesmin, Fennekin, and Froakie.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y hit shelves in October 2013 on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan, Europe, Australia, and the Americas.
