Take-Two Interactive has announced Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth. This science-fiction themed entry in the award-winning Civilization franchise will be developed by Firaxis Games and will allow players to explore and colonize an alien planet as well as introduce a new quest system, new indigenous environments, orbital layers for building and deploying satellites and nonlinear affects on your fraction.
In conjunction with traditional mechanics from past Civilization games, new additions such as developing contrasting cultures and evolving new civilizations based on a player's chosen destiny have been developed. Players will be able to experience a nonlinear technological progression, delve deeper into faction customization and experience an entirely new alien world that will change based on the actions of each chosen fraction.
Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth will release this fall for PC, Mac and Linux. What do you think? Is this the right path for the Civilization series? Sound off in the comments below.
