10 Mario Cameos You Should Know About

Mario is getting older each day, and today the legendary plumber turned 30. After taking on many adventures, tackling impossible odds and defeating powerful foes Mario has established an extensively impressive career. However Mario has made many appearances in other games, maybe you missed him. 

Pinball

Mario cameos harking back to the NES days. In Pinball Mario must use platforms to bounce a pinball into rows of objects to save Pauline. You know the girl Mario cared for before Peach appeared.

Punch-Out!!

Mario loves sports, either as a participant or a referee. In the original Punch-Out!! Mario can be seen in matches as a referee. It's a shame he doesn't do a good job, especially in the final fight.

Tennis

Punch-Out!! isn’t the only game Mario turned down playing to take the role of an official. In Tennis Mario takes charge as the tennis umpire, and unlike Punch-Out!! his skills for making judgements are much more fair.

Kirby Super Star

Mario doesn’t mind supporting his fellow Nintendo friends. In Kirby Super Star Mario and several characters from the Mushroom Kingdom can be seen in the audience during the Megaton Punch Championship. You can also see two sets of the brothers, perhaps a result of the Double Cherry power-up?

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes

Mario won’t just sneak into first-party Nintendo games, he'll go far and beyond to make sure his face is seen. In Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes two figurines can be spotted in Otacon’s lab on the second floor basement of the nuclear storage building. If you fire your weapon Mario will make a 1-Up sound and restore part of your life bar while Yoshi will say his name. Good for you Mario, helping Snake like that.

NBA Street V3

Challenging other Nintendo characters to sports is one thing, however facing against professionals is a whole new level of crazy. As part of the three game deal between Nintendo and EA Nintendo characters were included in the Gamecube version of NBA Street V3. Mario, Peach and Luigi left the Mushroom Kingdom and joined the roster to face off against some of Basketball's greatest players.

SSX on Tour

The second game in the EA and Nintendo deal had Mario, Luigi and Peach snowboarding down massive slopes in SSX. Is there anything Mario can't do!?

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Mario has appeared several times in The Legend of Zelda series, with Ocarina of Time being the most difficult cameo to find. Looking closely in the window where Princess Zelda stands in Hyrule Castle reveals paintings of Mario, Bowser, Peach and Luigi on the wall.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Mario isn't afraid to stray from E rated games. One of the call-sign emblems bears a striking resemblance to Mario. Dawning Captain Price’s colors, and name, the spite takes the form of Mario for Super Mario Bros..

Scribblenauts Unlimited

In the Wii U and 3DS version players can call on Mario’s help. Although a peaceful object he’ll go into a rage if KoopaTroppa, Goomba or Bowser objects are summoned. Now that I think about it Mario has some serious anger problems.
