The Hellfire SMG is definitely one of those fan-favorite guns, made by Ripper the SMG in Borderlands 4, keeps its signature fire element and its damage-over-time effect. This guide will explain how you can get your hands on it.

To get your hands on the Hellfire SMG, you'll need to farm the Skyspanner Kratch in Terminus Range. To make it easier to head to the boss, you'll want to unlock and power the Heritage Opus Safe House to use fast travel.

When you make it inside the mine, the path is straightforward. You'll want to avoid unnecessary fights to not waste any time, as you might not get the drop on the first go. Also, on your way, you'll encounter a large pit. Do not drop down – you will die. Instead, make your way up the platforms using your grapple to reach the boss arena.

After fighting the boss for the first time, you'll unlock the Encore Machine. The Skyspanner Kratch is not the easiest of bosses; it can take a while, especially with the number of drones it spawns.

You'll want to take your time to destroy every one of them, as they do drain a significant chunk of health. Always stay on the move and off the floor, and constantly chip away at his health until you defeat him.

Once the boss is defeated, you'll be able to leave the arena using a purple orb. It may take you several tries until the Hellfire SMG finally drops, but when it does, it will be worth it.

The Hellfire needs to be charged before being fully automatic, but it does a lot of damage against unshielded enemies with flesh health bars; its raw firepower makes it one of the most effective and desirable elemental weapons in Borderlands 4.
