Many people want to make Costly Punch as early as they can. To do this, you need two things. First, you need a Punch move like Goblin Punch.

Second, you need a DMW Materia. You can buy these in shops or find them in missions. Using these two items together in the fusion menu creates the Costly Punch in Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion.

Where to Get DMW Materia

You can buy these special items at a few stores. One is the Research Dept. QMC+. You find this shop in a chest in Gongaga, but you must get it before the chapter ends, or you will miss it. Another shop is Bone Village Commerce.

You find it in a chest in mission M7-5-3. This shop sells moves for bosses like Ifrit for 10,000 gil. You can also get these items as rewards for finishing missions in the M9 series.

Finding the Punch Moves

Goblin Punch is the easiest one to get. You can win it by playing the waterfall game in Gongaga during Chapter 10. You can also steal it from big enemies in mission M4-4-4 or find it in a maze in mission M7-5-1 in Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion.

Other moves like Iron Fist, Magical Punch, and Hammer Punch work too. You can find them in chests or steal them from enemies in M3 and M9 missions. Most people just use Goblin Punch because you can find it so early.

Tips for Fusion

Once you have your items, put one Punch move and one DMW Materia into the crafting menu. This will cost you about 12,000 SP. It is a good idea to use moves that are still at Rank 1 in Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion.

If the moves have higher ranks, the cost in SP will go up a lot. Using low-rank items keeps the cost down so you can save your points for other things.
