Some enemies make you fight differently. One of those enemies is the Goats. At the start of the fight, the choices you make will determine whether the fighting stays under control or goes out of hand.

Threat Overview
Even if poisoning can be controlled, Goats have several mechanisms that hinder combat. Their primary weapon, knockback, can push you against the walls of a cliff and hurt you severely.
After they assault, they immediately move to a new spot, making you chase them around the battlefield. Once they create space, they call on another spirit, which immediately makes the hostile presence even stronger in Death Howl.
If ignored, Goats continue to create pressure. They can summon additional spirits repeatedly, and in some encounters, they summon more Goats. This leads to rapid enemy growth and reduces your control over the fight.
Engagement Priority
You must check out the enemy roster at the start of each battle. Your primary objective isto engage a Horned Menace if one is present. Get rid of it right away so it can't move or call for help. If you can't get to your starting position directly, move to a new one before you start the combat.

A lot of the time, you need to teleport to a different Grove to come at it from a different angle. If you come in from behind or from a distance, the Horned Menace has less time to act in Death Howl.
Disengagement Scenarios
If you are ambushed and the enemy formation includes Goats supported by healers in the back line, continuing the fight may not be efficient.
In these cases, stop fighting, drop the Quest Card, teleport out, and then come back to the area with a better plan. First, eliminating the Horned Menace reduces the overall danger of the Death Howl encounter.
Behavior Patterns
Goats follow a consistent pattern. They attack to apply knockback, reposition to create distance, and summon additional spirits.
As long as they live, this cycle will keep happening. Other spirits can also call for help, but the Goats are always getting worse because they can move, displace, and call for help at the same time.

Combat Mindset
As soon as the goats show up, you need to refocus. Change your stance, rethink your strategy, and take them out before you fight additional adversaries. In Death Howl, their mechanics need you to interact with them right away, and putting off their elimination makes the encounter harder.
