Freyja's Greatsword stands out as one of the most versatile curved greatswords added in the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

This weapon has a unique passive feature that boosts Red Mane's fighting skills by 10% and combines the reliable curved greatsword moveset with it.

This weapon can change the course of a battle by giving you both tactical options and a lot of damage. You can use it in PvP invasions or PvE battles that are hard in Elden Ring.

Weapon Overview

You will see that Freyja's Greatsword uses the traditional curved greatsword moveset, which works quite well for invading.

The weapon provides excellent Hyper Armor during trades, allowing you to power through enemy attacks while delivering your own devastating strikes.

The diagonal swing pattern makes it relatively simple to hit multiple opponents with standard light attack chains, giving you an edge when facing groups of enemies in Elden Ring.

The running attacks serve as exceptional roll catch chains. Many opponents tend to panic when struck by a curved greatsword's running attack, creating opportunities for follow-up strikes.

This panic response often leads to predictable movement patterns that you can exploit for additional damage.

Unique Passive Ability

The defining feature of Freyja's Greatsword lies in its passive enhancement to Red Mane battle skills in Elden Ring.

This 10% damage increase applies to various powerful Ash of War, making already potent abilities even more devastating.

This bonus transforms several combat strategies and opens up new tactical possibilities that wouldn't be as viable with standard weapons in Elden Ring.

Recommended Ashes of War

Savage Lion's Claw is great for damage enhancement. You can use the initial attack as bait to encourage opponents to trade into the second half of the combo.

When you miss the first hit, the following two attacks will still connect if positioned correctly. If you land the second attack in the chain, remember that the complete attack sequence isn't a proper combo.

You'll need to delay the second strike to achieve a roll catch, but the payoff proves substantial when executed properly in Elden Ring.

Flame of the Redmanes functions as an excellent long-range attack tool.

When you stun someone at close range, you can queue up the Ash of War and aim it toward their likely escape route.

Opponents who roll backwards often fall directly into this attack, making it a reliable follow-up option.

Lion's Claw remains highly useful due to its single, powerful hit nature. With the 10% boost from Freyja's Greatsword, this already formidable attack becomes even more threatening, capable of dealing significant damage in a single strike.

Flaming Strike serves as one of the most versatile ashes of war available. You can effectively deploy this against rushing teams, often catching multiple opponents off guard.

Follow up with a second Flaming Strike to catch opponents who panic roll after the initial hit in Elden Ring.

When the flame part of the ash hits late in its animation, it gives you a real chance to do a strong attack.

Flaming Strike is a Red Mane talent in the game, which means that when you use Freyja's Greatsword, it does 10% more damage.

Build Configuration

To get the best results, use a pure strength build. When you heavily infuse Freyja's Greatsword, it works really well, increasing your strength scaling and overall damage output.

This infusion path makes sure you get the most out of your stat investment while keeping the weapon's native strengths in Elden Ring.

Recommended Talismans

Shard of Alexander proves essential for boosting all the various ashes of war you'll be utilizing. Since this build revolves heavily around Ash of War usage, this Talisman provides consistent value across all your combat scenarios.

Two-Handed Sword Talisman complements the weapon's naturally high attack rating in Elden Ring.

Since you'll primarily wield this weapon two-handed to maximize damage and Hyper Armor effectiveness, this Talisman offers constant benefit.

Erdtree's Favor and Bull-Goat's Talisman round out the build by providing general survivability and poise improvements.

These Talismans ensure you can maintain your aggressive playstyle while surviving the trades and exchanges that define curved Greatsword combat in Elden Ring.
