Here's a guide on how to make a combo build with the Spirit Glaive.

The Spirit Glaive is one of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC's most tactical weapons. The Rancor Slash Ash of War makes this halberd weapon different from other weapons in its class since it provides it with a different manner of battle.
If you want a weapon with a good moveset that does a lot of damage in a short amount of time, this guide will show you everything you need to know to get the most out of your Spirit Glaive build.
Weapon Overview
You can do a variety of basic attack patterns with your Spirit Glaive because it has the same basic moves as the Night Rider Glaive.

You'll be able to attack from above with a slash that causes a lot of damage and goes a long way. The running thrust attack is your primary method for catching up to attackers and closing distances.
Your running heavy slash gives you a chance to change things up, which makes it hard for your opponents to guess what you'll do next.
When invading, halberds traditionally have some of the greatest movesets, and the Spirit Glaive maintains this tradition alive.
The weapon is useful for both attacking and defending because it has an extensive range and multiple attack options.
Rancor Slash Ash of War
Your Spirit Glaive stands out because of the Rancor Slash Ash of War. The initial moveset is similar to Sword Dance; however, the primary difference is that vengeful spirits emerge when the Ash is turned on.
At first, these spirits might not look like much, yet they can form combos that Sword Dance couldn't. You can achieve a nice combination by utilizing the Ash of War and its follow-up attack if you execute the sequence correctly.
This combo might not work every time, but it always works as a roll catch following your running light attack or basic light strike.
The way these setups are spaced out and timed lets the angry spirits freeze your opponent at just the right moment so that you can hit them with the follow-up strike.
For this combo to function, the startling effect of the vengeful spirits must happen at the right time for the follow-up.
This pattern isn't always a good combo because it depends on something else, but you can employ it in your standard attack sequences with confidence. If you get this combo right, you'll do a lot of burst damage.

Recent Buffs
The latest changes made Rancor Slash much better. The spirits seeking revenge grew stronger, which increased the damage caused by the Ash of War.
The weapon also inflicted more damage on adversaries who were guarding, making it more effective against enemies who used shields.
These improvements address the weapon's previous damage limitations and enhance its overall utility.
Scaling and Stats
Put most of your stats into Dexterity and a tiny amount into Strength to do the most damage. This combination provides you with the best attack rating and makes the most of the weapon's two-handed scaling benefits.
The Strength investment makes the two-handed scaling multiplier stronger, which means that when you use the weapon with both hands, you do more damage.
Talisman Configuration
You should choose your Talismans based on how much burst damage they can inflict and their overall performance in battle. The Shard of Alexander is the best way to improve your damage.
This Talisman makes your Ash of War do a lot more damage. This Talisman is quite essential for getting the most out of your damage windows because you'll often try the roll catch combo.
The Two-Handed Sword Talisman will help you keep fighting with two hands by making the benefits of your favorite combat style even better.
To make your defenses stronger, add the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman and the Erdtree's Favor +2 to your setup.

How to fight
Your primary strategy to fight should be to use your running light attack or basic light strike to build up the roll catch combo.
If you hit your opponent with one of these attacks and they try to roll away, unleash Rancor Slash right away.
When your opponent is rolling to get back up, the vengeful spirits will typically stun them. This lets you hit them with the follow-up attack for the most damage.
Use the increased reach of your weapon to keep your opponents at a distance and put pressure on them. You can move anywhere with your running attacks, and your overhead light attack covers a lot of land.
Use both your running thrust for direct assaults and your running heavy slash to keep your opponents on their toes about what you intend to do.
Use the extra stamina damage from Rancor Slash to get through the shields of anyone who uses them. The most recent updates have made this Ash of War particularly effective against enemies that rely on blocking to stay safe.
