In Gotham Knights, smoke bombs help you break away from combat and return to stealth. This guide explains how smoke bombs function, how you trigger them, and how each hero uses them during patrols in Gotham City.

Using Smoke Bombs
Smoke bombs activate when you hold the grapple input instead of tapping it. On PlayStation, you hold L1. On Xbox, you hold LB. On PC, you have F.
Your hero still grapples for a vantage point, and a smoke bomb drops at the same time. There is no option to use the bombs without grappling, so every use creates distance and ends direct conflict in Gotham Knights.

Training in the Belfry
You can try smoke bombs in the Belfry by entering the training area. The smoke bomb tutorial shows each step of the action. Training exercises grant XP and help you learn core mechanics. These activities become available after your first patrol as the hero you selected at the start of the game.

Smoke Bombs in Batfamily
Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Red Hood all use smoke bombs to escape combat or reset encounters. The bombs support Robin in particular because his skill set revolves around stealth in Gotham Knights.
He moves in and out of sight, removes enemies one at a time, and remains the only hero who can perform stealth takedowns on large enemies. Smoke bombs help create those opportunities if you repeat the process across multiple encounters.
