This guide contains 10 tips for surviving in Rogue Angel Mode. These are really essential for a player to keep in mind.

1. Balance Your Starting Weapons

At the start of your run, you will choose two weapons. You should seek a balanced loadout.

Try to select one weapon that is effective against hordes, like the Rocket Launcher or Electro Driver, and one weapon built for single-target damage, such as the Revolver or Stake Gun.

This ensures you are prepared for both swarms of lesser demons and the Elite Demons that will appear.

2. Prioritize Your Path Based on Need

After clearing a room, you must choose one of two paths. Pay close attention to the symbols.

The Dual Pistol Symbol leads to weapon upgrades, the Card Symbol grants a Tarot Card, and the Item Symbol provides resources like consumables or an extra life.

You must evaluate your current status. If your weapons feel weak, seek upgrades. If you are low on lives, the Item Path is crucial.

3. Always Build for Stagger

Your primary goal in combat, especially against Elite Demons, is to build their Stagger Gauge. You can do this most effectively by stacking elemental damage.

You should actively look for weapon upgrades that add cold, electric, or fire effects, such as the Revolver's Volt Weaver or the SMG's Cryoshot. Once an enemy is staggered, you can execute them with your Painkiller Shredder.

4. Movement Is Your Best Defence

You must stay in constant motion. Use your Dash, Slide, and Jump to create space and avoid incoming attacks. Standing still is the fastest way to get overwhelmed.

You should also use your environment. Use the Wall Bounce mechanic to gain height and the Grappling Hook to quickly reposition across the arena.

5. Use the Shredder for Resources

Your Painkiller Shredder attack is not just for execution. When you grapple and kill an enemy with it, they release purple gems that refill your Painkiller gauge.

You can use this on weaker enemies to keep your gauge full, ensuring your grapple attack is always ready for a key Elite Demon or as a movement tool.

6. Conserve and Hunt for Extra Lives

In Rogue Angel, your lives are a finite resource, and running out means perma-death for the run. You must play cautiously.

If you are running low, you should actively hunt for the Item Symbol path, as this is your most reliable way to earn an extra life back and extend your run.

7. Master the Breakneck Trials

You will encounter Breakneck Trial rooms, which are parkour gauntlets that continually drain your health. The key is to be fast and efficient.

You must chain your Slide, Wall Bounce, and Grappling Hook abilities without hesitation. You should also use your Painkiller Shredder on enemies to use them as grapple points and take shortcuts.

8. Heal Strategically

Health is a precious resource. Before leaving a combat map, you should look for any Health Orbs you missed. However, do not waste them by topping off if you are only slightly damaged.

The Rest Area between maps will always restore 50 health for free. You should enter the Rest Area with 50 health or less to maximise this free healing.

9. Adapt Your Tarot Card Build

Unlike the primary campaign, you cannot plan your Tarot Card build from the start. You must adapt based on what you find. In Rogue Angel mode, you should prioritise survivability.

Cards that grant extra health, restore resources, or provide defensive buffs are often more valuable than pure damage.

10. Know Your Objectives

Not every room is about simply killing enemies. You will face different objectives, such as filling Static Blood Tanks or moving Soul Cage Lanterns.

You must identify the objective quickly. For Blood Tanks, you must kill enemies near the tank. For Soul Cages, you must grab and throw the Lantern to its destination, often using traversal skills.
