Path of Exile 2 Guide | How To Get Ascendency Points
Here's all you need to know on how to get Ascendency Points in Path of Exile 2.

In Path of Exile 2, ascendancy points are crucial for building up one's character in that they unlock for the players some other quite powerful skills and perks particular only to their chosen Ascendancy Class. By the end of Act 3, a person would be able to get up to two more Ascendancy points after going through a series of really tough trials of skill, strategy, and endurance called Trials of Chaos. This guide will fully explain how to unlock and complete the Trials of Chaos and beat its challenges to maximize your Ascendancy points.
Starting the Trials of Chaos
To access the Trials of Chaos, you will have to progress through the main quest of Act 3, Legacy of the V. Early in this act, you want to enter the Chimeral Wetlands and defeat the boss, Z. Lucian the Chimera. The exact position of the boss is random, but typically, he spawns toward the western half of the wetlands.
This is a tough battle, but it's considerably easier compared to how Balbala was in Act 2. Use the terrain to your advantage and take down the stone altars of Z. Lucian, creating openings in the process. Once defeated, he drops Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum, a quest item that allows permission to start the Trials of Chaos.
Now, go away to find the Temple of Chaos, also within the Chimeral Wetlands, but this time mostly on the north edge. Place the Inscribed Ultimatum into the offering plate in the temple; this will unlock the way into the trial. If you fail and get killed during the trial, all you have to do is try again by clicking the offering plate. That is very convenient because the attempts are unlimited.
Understanding Trial Mechanics
Each of the four rounds in the Trials of Chaos features different challenge factors. Choosing the right ones is very important since these may affect your gameplay a lot. Some are quite mild, while others can give quite a rise to difficulty. Here's an overview of popular modifiers and how to use them.
Stalking Shade is possible on the first round if you're toward the tail end of the trial, which can be terrifying. Chaotic Monsters only increase enemy lethality but are better compared to modifiers that add obstructions. Never take Impending Doom, as such affixes create obstacles that are just about impossible to avoid taking damage from.
Unstoppable Monsters is acceptable during the second round unless your build relies very much on slows or stuns. Heart Tethers should not be taken as they are essentially a type of obstruction, and Diminished Reach is safe — and especially good for projectiles.
Monster Speed on the third wave will create some inconveniences but nowhere near Reduced Recovery, which impacts survivability greatly. Aim to avoid Enraged Bosses as much as possible because they greatly increase the difficulty of the final boss.
For the fourth round, avoid Petrification Statues and obstacle modifiers like Storm Collar Runes, which leave damnation points on the arena floor. Activate the modifier, where possible, like the Volatile Fiends, which will be far weaker during the final boss fight.
Navigating the Soul Core Collection Round.
The tricky part of the Trials may be the Soul Core Collection Round, where you have to pick up and place cores onto stone altars; while carrying, these cores drain shield and life, thus requiring efficiency and speed in transit.
Pull the lever near the stone altars to create your path to the first core. Then head up the lift across the bridge, get that one, too, and return to the altars with the core. Then, with a lever near the first core position, have a path pop up to the second core. Do the same for the third core, which is to the northwest of the stone altars. Go at a really good clip to not take too much damage from the core's draining effect. Once all three are in place, the round is complete, and the next.
Facing the End-of-Trial Boss
Each of the Trials, as mentioned above, ends with a boss fight against one of three bosses: Bahlak the Skyseer, Chetza the Feathered Plague, or Uxmal the Beast Lord. Each boss shows up to bring in a different challenge, even though the difficulty scale certainly ranges between them.
The toughest, it would be asserted, is the Bahlak the Sky Seer simply because he can deal lots of damage and has strong AOE attacks. Success against Bahlak often involves a powerful build and a bit of luck because even the most seasoned players often struggle at this meeting. Meanwhile, the Chetza the Feathered Plague is significantly easier to manage, especially for all frost-based compositions.
It is a weak boss against ice and can be killed easily if the sustained damage is longer. While it summons Bird Corpses during combat, it is often neglected. Finally, Uxmal the Beast Lord is moderately difficult but easier than Bahlak. The boss is constantly moving around the arena, which is a bit annoying but not impossible to handle.
Unlocking and Allocating Ascendancy Points
Finish defeating the last boss, complete all four rounds, and head to the reward room to collect your prizes. Inside, you'll find the Altar of Ascendancy, which rewards you with two additional Ascendancy points. Open your character menu, go to the Passives page, and use those points where your build wants them. These are high-value points; you have to be really sure what to do to buff your strengths or patch your weaknesses.
Final Tips towards Success
Chaos Trials in Act 3 are among the most challenging but fun-to-play parts of the content. Make sure to prioritize modifiers that fit your playstyle and avoid obstacle modifiers if possible. Focus on strategic mobility during Soul Core Collection and get ready for a really tough last boss. Also, much like every other fight, preparation, patience, and adaptation are very crucial in beating the Trials to get those precious Ascendancy points.
These will allow your character to acquire more impressive skills and synergies, which are really powerful and provide a great edge, particularly in the later parts of Path of Exile 2.
