This guide explains how crafting works in Pioner and how you use it during exploration, combat, and preparation. Crafting is part of survival and progression and is used throughout your time in the world. You rely on it to maintain equipment, process resources, and prepare for travel into higher-risk areas.
Crafting System Overview
Pioner's crafting method combines making, repair, dismantling, and upgrading items. When you are in charge of weapons, armor, and other supplies, you often have to deal with this method.
The crafting interface consolidates related actions into a single menu, allowing you to switch between functions without changing systems.
Workbenches and Crafting Locations
Most crafting actions take place at workbenches. These are found in settlements, safe zones, and player outposts in Pioner.
When you access a workbench, you open the crafting menu, where all item-related actions are available. This includes creating items, repairing gear, dismantling equipment, and converting materials.
Crafting Menu Categories
The crafting menu is divided into categories based on item function. These categories include basic items, ammunition, medicine, weapons, food, and material conversion recipes.
This structure shows what you can produce at your current stage and expands as you unlock additional blueprints in Pioner.
Resource Collection and Materials
Resources are gathered through exploration, looting, combat encounters, and quest rewards. Early materials are frequently found, whereas later components require processing via conversion recipes.
You can turn larger quantities of base materials into smaller amounts of materials used for equipment creation.
The interface displays metals, fabrics, plastics, mechanical parts, and components linked to the anomaly. Instead of just depending on drops, conversion recipes let you move up and down material tiers by making items.
Equipment Durability and Repairs
Weapons and armor lose durability through use. Repairing items requires specific materials, which are consumed during the process in Pioner.
You control how much durability is restored by adjusting the amount of materials used. This allows partial repairs when resources are limited or complete repairs when preparation is needed.
Dismantling Equipment
You can take apart equipment that isn't needed anymore. When you take something apart, it adds the item's parts to your inventory.
You can use these items to build new tools or repair broken components. This approach connects legacy equipment directly to future manufacturing requirements.
Unlocks and Blueprints
A lot of things need blueprints. You can get blueprints by moving, completing quests, or buying them in stores.
Traders are associated with specific crafting categories, such as weapons, medicine, food, or utility items. Visiting settlements and maintaining access to traders is required to expand crafting options in Pioner.
Some blueprints are available early, while others are placed deeper in the world or tied to higher-risk activities.
