In this section of The Séance of Blake Manor, your objective is to locate Miss Deane’s Letter and use it to form a hypothesis. You will examine documents, compare handwriting, and exit the Manager’s Office in a specific way to avoid an early failure. Follow the steps below to continue the investigation.

Reaching The Manager’s Office

Start from the center of the Lobby and walk toward the southwest corridor to enter the Manager’s Office. Inside, move to the northwest desk and inspect the Clipboard. Viewing the Room Assignments reveals a letter placed beneath the page.

Comparing Handwriting Details

After uncovering the letter, review the handwriting differences between the signatures. You must identify three variations:

The top of the “E” in Evelyn

The lower portion of the “y” in Evelyn

The lower portion of the “D” in Deane

These comparisons allow you to proceed to the hypothesis stage.

Forming The Hypothesis

Open the Think prompt under Miss Deane’s Departure to begin constructing your hypothesis. Combine the key ideas using the structure:

(Miss Deane’s Departure) + (letter) is (forged)

When prompted, choose “They can write” to complete this reasoning step. Completing this earns the Groundwork achievement.

Leaving The Manager’s Office Safely

When you are ready to exit, do not use the door or you will trigger a Game Over screen. Instead, move to the window on the right side of the room and climb through it to leave safely.

Returning To The Hotel And Reaching Your Room

Once outside, return to the building through the front entrance the same way you entered earlier. When control is restored, walk toward Mister Varley, then continue upstairs. At the top, turn right and follow the hallway to reach the porter, Mister Doyle, and your assigned room, Room 4.
