Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Guide | Best Water Ominous Chill Build

This Water spell build is built for one thing. You melt bosses in a matter of seconds. The damage comes so quickly that many fights feel like they end before they even start. The best part is that it still works in New Game Plus, so it is not just a one-run setup.

Best Weapons for Water Scaling

Use Dual Swords that scale with Water. This weapon type fits the build and keeps pressure high at close range. A great locked effect is Melee Attack Spirit Damage, because it helps break enemies faster while you keep damage rolling. 

Add Ice Attack Power to make your Ice spells hit harder. If a special effect slot is available, Damage Amplification on Enemy upon Martial Arts Hit is a top pick because it matches how the weapon plays. 

If slots are limited, Enemy Status Effect Accumulation helps keep Ice buildup on targets, and Spell Duration keeps positive effects active longer.

Keep the Guding Blade as a secondary weapon. It is mainly there for human enemies, since it helps in matchups where quick Spirit pressure matters more than anything else.

Why the Ranged Slot Still Matters

Even if the ranged weapon is not used much, it still matters because the active ranged slot can carry useful effects. Upgrade the ranged weapon as far as possible to keep scaling strong. 

A Repeating Crossbow works well, especially when it comes with a locked effect like Repeating Crossbow Damage. Add Ice Attack Power here too, and use a solid damage boost if a locked bonus is not available.

Armor Sets to Use for This Build

A strong early-to-mid option is the Blue-Eyed Child Set. It is medium armor and gives the Inheritor of the Tiger set bonus. You get it by swearing an oath with Sun Quan and raising Oath Level to 10. This set supports ammo capacity, ammo returns, lower Martial Arts cost, and stronger melee damage.

Aim for the Libationer Guo Set if you want to achieve the maximum possible damage setting. This piece of armor is lightweight and grants the Strategist of Genius set benefit. This boost is a good fit for the build because it focuses on status pressure and increased damage against adversaries that have negative effects. This is because the build regularly keeps Ice effects on targets.

Embedments and Stat Effects to Prioritize

Stack Ice Attack Power and Damage to Enemies with Negative Effects across your gear. This is the main damage engine because enemies are kept under a negative effect for long stretches. 

Reduce Wizardry Spell Spirit Consumption wherever possible, since spells are used constantly. Helpful extras include Water Phase Spell Spirit Consumption, Chill Accumulation on Enemies, and boosts tied to Fatal Strike damage.

Accessories can stay flexible, but strong rolls like Wizardry Spell Damage and general Damage Dealt help a lot.

Boss Rotation That Chunks Health

Amplify Damage, Overpower Burst, Ice Weapon, and Ominous Chill are the spells that are implemented in the boss spell configuration. Amplify Damage is the first action you should take, and then cast Overpower Burst to augment the next action. It is then necessary to cast Ominous Chill to take a significant portion of a boss's health.

Keep casting Ominous Chill, or refresh Overpower Burst and repeat the burst. Ice Weapon is there for moments when melee is needed, and it benefits heavily from the build's stacked Ice stats.

Best Spells for Mission Clearing

Some boss spells need a higher Morale Rank, so they may not be ready early in a mission. For general clearing, use Ice Weapon, Frozen Mallet, and Venom Snare. 

The Frozen Mallet remains useful even when morale is low. At the same time, Venom Snare is an excellent weapon for mobs because it deals significant damage to the region around a target. As soon as morale begins to improve, the buildup begins, and the strain's difficulty increases even further.

Virtue Stats and Agility Notes

To power the core damage, you should push strongly into Water Virtue. If you are wearing medium armor, you should add sufficient Earth Virtue, and it is important to maintain a B Agility. 

If the buff spells are a part of the strategy, invest points in Fire Virtue, and employ Metal Virtue in situations where a reduced spell cost is required. If armor is altered, points can be moved later on, particularly when transitioning from medium to light armor.

Stealth Fatal Strike Damage Bonus

A major bonus of this setup is its high stealth rating. High stealth makes Fatal Strike damage much bigger, so sneaking up on enemies becomes a real damage tool. If you can get behind targets and trigger the prompt, the hit can be brutal even in New Game Plus.

Stay calm when closing the distance. Use smart movement and steady pressure. If enemies start to notice, use the blocking approach while moving in to keep detection low, then take the Fatal Strike as soon as the prompt appears.
