Square Enix Wraps Up Final Fantasy XVI Basic Development According to Recruitment Page
Final Fantasy XVI may release earlier than expected

Square Enix has one of the most notorious bad histories when it comes to video game releases and delays. The 2 most infamous examples being Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3. This is mostly due to project development issues and revealing the game too early but recently a report by Gemsatu stated that Square Enix may have learned their lesson and finished basic development for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XVI.
According to Gemsatu:
Basic development and scenario production for Final Fantasy XVI are already compete, according to a new recruitment page for the title on Square Enix’s careers website.
“We have already completed basic development and scenario production, and are continuing to create large-scale resources and build boss battles while expanding our various development tools,” the website reads. “Also, most of our staff are carrying out their work remotely.”
This doesn't mean the game is close to finishing. There's still playtesting, animation, textures, bug fixing, QA and so much more. However, not revealing the game so early in development was a great move from Square Enix if this is true.
Final Fantasy XVI is in development for PS5.
