Ubisoft Games Return to Steam

After a few years away from Steam, Ubisoft has decided to start bringing a few games back to the biggest digital marketplace for PC games.

Ubisoft has announced that three of their games, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800, and Roller Champions, will make their way to Steam even though they have only been released on Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store since 2020. This could indicate that more Ubisoft games are going to return to the Steam platform.

The decision to bring Ubisoft games back to Steam was not one that was seemingly revealed willingly, as some noticed Steam listings that were later made private, but a Ubisoft spokesperson informed Eurogamer: “We're constantly evaluating how to bring our games to different audiences wherever they are, while providing a consistent player ecosystem through Ubisoft Connect.”

The spokesperson also gave the list of games that will be coming to Steam, but they did not confirm that there will be any other games. So, at present, it is simply speculation that more games will come to the platform, but this news should be a good indication that more games may come to Steam in the following months and years.

Furthermore, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will release on Steam on 6 December 2022, and this date coincides with the last of the post-launch content planned to be released for the game. So, for those who have been excited about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but not enough to go to the Epic Games Store or Ubisoft’s own Ubisoft Connect service, then you’re finally in luck.

Perhaps there will be more news over the coming months and years about more Ubisoft games making their way back to Steam, but for now, at least three of them are returning from the competitive waters of the Epic Games Store’s unreciprocated rivalry with Steam.
