The next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is right around the corner, and in preparation for the big news, CD Projekt RED has shown off some of the new upgrades and features that will go into both the new console versions and the PC version. This new version will release on 14 December 2022.

The updates were shown off in a CD Projekt RED Twitch stream, and there are both content and technical changes made to the game. The simplest of which is the inclusion of various bug fixes here and there that were never caught when the original finished updating. It’s something small, but it’s also good to see it done.

As for the more technical additions, there will now be the ability to select from two graphical modes for the console version. You can choose between 30 FPS with ray tracing or 60 FPS, depending on your preferences. A nice bit of customization that console gamers tend not to get. There will also be cross progression across consoles, better map filtering, a dynamic mini map that can disappear while exploring, increased control customizability for magic, haptic feedback on the PS5 version, and there will be a few new accessibility options, such as improved subtitling.

Furthermore, there are some extras that the PC version gets, like improved customizability in general, a new photo mode, and a new camera angle that brings it in line with some of the initial trailers back in the day.

These are just the technical additions though. There will also be a pretty great new content addition. A DLC based on the Netflix series will be added that rewards you with the armor from the show, so you can have a Henry Cavill version of Geralt, and there will also be the option to change Dandelion’s outfit to bring him more in line with the Netflix Jaskier version.

All in all, this update brings many things to the game that fans will likely love. This update will also be free for everyone who already owns a copy of the game. So, go check it out if you’ve got it!
